When Kaz decides to join up with Poe and the Resistance, things go awry when he discovers the First Order has located the Colossus.
Tropes:
- Awful Truth: Yeager tells Kaz that although Tam was their friend, she's made her choice to be their enemy and she's willing to hurt them, so they have to be willing to hurt her too in order to defend themselves.
- But Now I Must Go: Once it seems the Colossus is safe, Kaz decides to return to the Resistance. However, the First Order finds the station once again, forcing Kaz to come back to their defense until they can find another sanctuary.
- Call-Back: Kaz calls up Norath to tell him he'll be joining up with him back to the Resistance. Norath tells him to meet him near Batuu.
- Love Hurts: Yeager still loves and cares for Tam and will always miss her, but she still made the choice to betray and hurt him and he has to cast her away because of it, even be willing to hurt her, even if it may be hard for him.
- Rank Up: Tam is promoted to squadron leader for intercepting Kaz's torpedo attack on Pyre's Star Destroyer.
- Status Quo Is God:
- The Colossus is forced to go on the run again when the First Order discovers it on Aeos.
- Kaz is prepared to leave the Colossus and join up with the rest of the Resistance, but a First Order attack convinces him to stay with his friends on the platform.
- Tempting Fate: Before Kaz leaves, Yeager lets him keep the Fireball under the circumstance that he takes good care of it. Not too long afterwards, Kaz wrecks it and Yeager is forced to temporarily lend him his own ship for the dogfight, much to his chagrin.
- We ARE Struggling Together: When the attack on the Colossus fails, Tierny taunts to Pyre that Hux won't be pleased by his report about this. Pyre replies that it's not Hux he's worrying about...
- What the Hell, Hero?: Synara and Torra aren't happy when they find out Kaz is leaving the Colossus without telling anyone.
- Worrying for the Wrong Reason: When Tierny tells Pyre that he should be worried about Hux's reaction to the news that the Colossus escaped again, Pyre retorts that Hux is not the one they should be worried about.
