Recap / Star Trek Prodigy S 2 E 3 Who Saves The Saviors

Go To

Dal, Zero, Jankom Pog and Maj'El cross the wormhole into Solum's future. Meanwhile, Gwyn tries to convince Solum's leader to listen to her, with the help of Ilthuran, her father's younger self.

Tropes:

  • Bird People: Adreek, Chakotay's First Officer, is a humanoid bird. This causes Jankom to drop a number of bird-related puns.
  • Delayed Ripple Effect: After the past is changed, Gwyn begins to randomly turn intangible at the worst moment as she is slowly erased from time.
  • Foreshadowing: There is a brief shot of Young Asencia looking quite uncomfortably at her victorious future self. By the end of the season she is leading the resistance against her older self.
  • Running Gag: Dal is still being reminded to read "Temporal Mechanics 101" to better understand time paradoxes.
  • Timey-Wimey Ball: The Protostar not reaching Tars Lamora means that season 1 could not have happened, including the creation of the wormhole that allowed the Infinity crew to change the past in the first place, which means that the Voyager would have no reason to be there. Yet the only effect of this change is that Gwyn begins to be erased from existence while everybody remembers the previous events. Apparently "Temporal Mechanics 101" explains why.
  • You Already Changed the Past: Discussed. Zero believes for a while that they had always been responsible for allowing Chakotay to escape and that they are merely fulfilling their role and not changing the past. However, it soon becomes clear that things are going wrong due to Dal dropping a phaser during their diversion, which is just what Chakotay needed to defend himself and board the Protostar with Adreek instead of sending it away empty. It is however not revealed how Chakotay was supposed to escape from his cage without their help.
