Chakotay and the crew rig the Protostar into a makeshift boat in order to reach a storm where they could replenish its deuterium supply and restart the warp core.
Tropes:
- Call-Forward: Noum comments that Dr Crusher is surprisingly hard to locate these days. This is a plot point in Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard.
- The Cameo: Beverly Crusher makes an appearance when Admiral Janeway calls her to get some information about her son.
- The Sky Is an Ocean: The planet has very dense clouds on which the Protostar can float as if on a sea. It is also possible to fall into these clouds but also to swim into them as if in water.
