Quinn finally reunites with his long-lost brother, Colin, on an Amish-type Earth. On the next parallel world, a double of Colin's former love interest gets him entangled in a bizarre scheme to steal cryogenically-frozen bodies.
Tropes present in the episode:
- Different World, Different Movies: On the world where bone graft is used as payment, there is an advertisement for a film entitled Gone with the Future starring Michael J. Fox as Rhett Butler.
- Human Popsicle: Rich sick people freeze their bodies in the hopes of finding a cure for their conditions, but the featured program also allows them to freeze their assets. It's locked by DNA, so criminals try to steal the frozen bodies in order to gain access.
- Police Are Useless: Subverted. Dawson was keeping an eye on the Sliders and had them followed to Susanna's place. He has the police swarm the place when things are about to turn sour.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Dawson on both worlds. As the sheriff on Colin's world, he keeps the locals from killing him. As a police sergeant on the next world, he gives Colin the benefit of the doubt.
- Running Gag: This episode marks the beginning of the season's "We're from Canada" excuse.
- Shared Family Quirks: Despite less-advanced surroundings, Colin shares his brother's love of science and actively tries to invent stuff.
- Smarter Than You Look: Colin is quite out-of-step, but he's not the rube others think he is.
- Unwitting Pawn: Colin is used by Susanna and her mother as part of their scam. Subverted when Colin realizes something is fishy and pulls a switcheroo.
