Hex and Skull are beginning to have a bit of a falling out, as Skull starts screwing up their studies and training. Eventually he gets enough of them always having to do things Hex's way and decides to break their magical connection so he can fly solo. But this leaves Hex to be taken over by the evil side of her supernatural powers, and now the evil Hex is looking to spread that evil on to everyone else at the academy.
This episode provide examples of:
- Black Eyes of Evil: Hex being taken over by darkness turns her eyes pitch black, and the same thing happens to people who get infected by that darkness by hugging Hex.
- A Day in the Limelight: This is the only episode of the show where cadets are the main characters without anyone in Team Spyro being involved.
- Sdrawkcab Speech: Skull's spells in this episode are chanted with the words in the right order, only that they are backwards.
