Go To

Original title: "Sapi"

Aired: August 31, 2022

High-schooler Marian and her friends go out to buy alcohol, despite the fact they are not exactly keen about it. Much to their surprise, Glenda downs the liquor like it was water. Even stranger, she is now a competent dancer, even though she has two left feet. When her behavior gets more erratic, her friends call her parents. Her mother orders the students to bring Glenda to an albularyo.note  He finds out Glenda is possessed by a rape victim who wishes to find justice, believing the students killed them. After much praying and convincing, the spirit agrees to leave Glenda's body. Glenda has no memories of her possession, but it stays in Marian's mind for years.

In October 2017, Gee and their family visit Gee's mother-in-law for the All Saints' Day holidays, when their sister-in-law comes home, possessed. After a pastor drives away the spirit, she recounts her tale: while on the way to visit a wedding, she got into an accident by a bridge, and from then on she started to feel heavier until she blanked out. Gee randomly wonders how a possession will feel, and during a prayer meeting, they start feeling unusual. Their sister-in-law, spouse, and even the pastor show the same symptoms. As it turns out, four children died at the bridge where the sister-in-law had an accident, and their restless spirits joined her until she met her family.

Tropes for both stories include:

  • And I Must Scream: Gee is aware of what happened while they were possessed.
It feels like something is entering my body. (...) My insides were feeling stiff and the surroundings felt very cold. (...) My fear and anxiety were mixing together. My hands are cold and feel very heavy. At that moment, I felt there was an unseen presence in our house holding my hands. (...) It's like something's preventing my mouth from speaking. It's like something's controlling me. My eyes narrowed and it felt like something wanted to escape my body. I couldn't stop laughing. A scary feeling wrapped around me. I felt like killing someone. That was how I felt, and there was also a fear I can't explain. (...) I became mute; no matter how much I tried to speak, no voice came out. My feet suddenly became heavier. My nails seemed to turn black from the cold.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Whoever was possessing Glenda, apparently.
  • Head Desk: Glenda bumps her head on whatever she can bump her head into, but ironically, there are no desks involved.
  • High-School Dance: The first story takes place in the buildup to one.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Both victims in the episode have little to no memories of being possessed.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: When Glenda's friends recount her experiences being possessed, she stops them mid-way because she is too scared. Her friends never brought it up since then.
  • Not Himself: Glenda becomes an alcoholic and a good dancer, completely opposite her reputation, and Gee doesn't recognize their spouse and introduces themself as "Grace".
  • Plagued by Nightmares: Marian couldn't sleep for two weeks after Glenda's possession because she can only see Glenda's face when she closes her eyes.
  • Sin Invites Possession: In the second story, the only thing the pastor asks Gee after being possessed is if they or anyone they know worship idols, which is denounced by some Protestants but not minded by Catholics, which include the majority of Filipinos.
  • Sucks at Dancing: Glenda, when she's not possessed.
  • Talking in Your Sleep: In both stories, the possession victims seem to be sleeping, but they answer coherently to anyone talking to them.
  • Tempting Fate: Gee wonders what it would be like if they were possessed. Guess what happens later.
  • Voice Changeling: Glenda answers to the albularyo in a deep, gurgling voice.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The one who possessed Glenda, a high schooler, in "Possession". The albularyo whom Glenda was sent to even mentions that she is only young while begging the possessor to leave.
