Slimey is accepted into WASA for his space exploration training, with many other worms, including a very odd-looking worm...
This episode provides examples of the following tropes:
- Paper-Thin Disguise: For comedy purposes. A chicken, presumably interested in eating the worms, sneaks into WASA dressed in striped clothing, under the name "Selma Worm". Even the WASA Commander comments:WASA Commander: ...Strange-looking worm...
- Public Domain Soundtrack: Given the theme of the story arc: The use of Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, from Gustav Holst's "The Planets", when the WASA Commander addresses the remaining candidates before the final test.
- Training from Hell: The worms are put through a scaled-down version of this to choose and cull the candidates, with a Worm-O-Hold-On-Tight-O test (much like a High-G-Force centrifuge in real life), and the final test, Upsy-Downsy-Every-Way-Aroundsy-Wormsy-Bouncy test (much like a Vomit Comet test), where the worms must find their footing and inch-across a straight line after being bounced around like a Slinky.
