Tropes

  • A Day in the Limelight: After appearing only briefly or not at all in every video since Putting Others First, Janus is not only the central character of the video but also gets to sing for the first time in Sanders Sides canon.
  • Escapism: Discussed. Janus believes that the holidays are a needed form of escapism in which people let themselves pretend that everything is okay, even if just for a little while.
  • Hidden Depths: Patton assumes that Janus likes Halloween because of the superficial elements of dressing up in costumes, but Janus' reasoning turns out to be much deeper than that.
  • "Ray of Hope" Ending: Thomas is still struggling with the events of past episodes, with the holidays providing but a short reprieve. But Patton has hope that things can get better for real.
Patton: Y'know, maybe things really are going to be okay. Maybe they aren't just a fantasy.
    Janus: Yes... maybe.
