Recap / SWATS 05 E 04 Sentinel

Go To

On top of knowing Sanchez's true agenda, 20 Squad has to catch a crew of robbers stealing medical supply shipments while users of a security app are getting in their way trying to be heroes. Street gets some bad news.

Tropes

  • All for Nothing: How Street feels about having risked his health for his mother with a liver donation, only for her to fatally overdose two months later.
Street: So I donated a piece of my liver in a risky surgery to give her a second- no, twelfth- chance, and she's out of prison less than two months and she OD's. Perfect.
  • Badass Bystander: Averted with Sentinel app users; Hondo makes it plain they're doing more harm than good.
Hondo: You playing hero might have gotten your neighbour killed.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: The motive of one of the leaders of the robbers is to try and get insulin for his diabetic daughter.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Hicks makes it plain he's on Hondo's side against Sanchez and the Police Commission and that he will do all in his power to try and stop them railroading Hondo out of SWAT.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Street tears into Hondo for ditching the squad without a word.
Hondo: I'm here because I care about you.
Street: No, you're here because it's convenient for you now. You preach all day about SWAT being a family...you don't ignore family. I knew I couldn't count on my mom, but I always thought that I could count on you. But where were you? When I was laid up in a hospital bed, where were you? Or when we were all texting you and calling for weeks on end with no response? [...] Hondo, if we're friends, real friends, you don't get to pick and choose when you show up for us. I've had enough people in my life do that already.
