Recap / SM G4s Mario Bloopers Mario Has ABBQ But Hes Not Invited

Go To

After a crazy arc, SMG4 and friends decide to relax and have a BBQ... and Mario's not invited

Right on the heels of the most epic and harrowing arc of a lifetime, SMG4's ready to kick back with a nice, relaxing, perfectly ordinary barbecue with his friends—which means Mario (along with Bob) isn't allowed to come.

  • An Arm and a Leg: Tari gets her cyborg hand cut off by an enraged Melony while trying to calm her down. Unlike in Meta Runner, though, where any damage to a cyborg arm is as excruciating as any human body part, Tari is simply upset. It's fixed by the end of the episode, too.
  • Breather Episode: Invoked by SMG4 himself. The Genesis Arc was such an intense ordeal full of Character Development, death, and the battle against a universe-threatening god that he puts together a calm and relaxing BBQ to get a bit of normalcy back into their lives. Of course, Hilarity Ensues as it always does, but everyone finally has a great time in the end.
  • Chew-Out Fake-Out: At first, SMG4 looks chillingly furious with his friends for ruining his BBQ plans, making them all feel awful for the fighting they've gotten into. But then gives an eye-rolling smile and says, "It wouldn't be us if it wasn't like this." After that, everyone laughs and pitches in to salvage the BBQ.
  • Innocently Insensitive: For some reason, everyone seems to have forgotten that Melony is a humanized fruit, and they had prepared cut fruit to eat. Melony does not take this well.
  • Irony:
    • In his earlier appearances, Bob has been less trustworthy than Mario by SMG4. Initially, he's kept in the fenced playpen with Mario so they wouldn't interrupt the BBQ, but later, Bob is seen at the table with everyone else, and Mario's back in the fences.
    • Mario and Bob were put in the playpen specifically to prevent them from ruining the barbecue, only for the girls—normally a case of Women Are Wiser—to cause it to descend into chaos without their input.
  • Lethal Chef: Meggy's long history of poor cooking is brought into play once again. This time Meggy keeps herself out of it, knowing how things will turn out, but gets so fed up with Tari's overly meticulous approach to cooking the steak that she decides to "help" by pushing a single button on the grill—which summons a Pyro who totally chars the meat with his flamethrower.
  • Mathematician's Answer: After the whole incident, everyone replaces the fruit with fake fruit for Melony's sake. Upon learning this, a disturbed Bob asks SMG4 what the fake fruit is made of. SMG4 can only respond with a simple "Yes."
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Melony is especially apologetic after trashing the table's food, cutting off Tari's cybernetic hand, and getting into a fight with Meggy.
  • Mythology Gag: Mario claiming that there's a forcefield over the fence may seem like it came out of nowhere until you remember that fences in Minecraft have special collision that prevent players and most mobs from jumping over them.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Alongside his usual muscular form, Luigi turned into a rocket launcher and later a freaking tank.
    Bob: You Italians are crazy!
  • Skewed Priorities: Luigi turns into a tank in an attempt to stop Mario and Bob from reaching the food and knocks several objects down on the way. He actually briefly stops chasing them so that he could knock down several boxes of food that were outside of his current path, then resumed the chase.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: Once SMG4 and Saiko step out of the picture, the plot shifts focus between two subplots: one involves Mario and Bob's attempts to get into the barbecue past Luigi's nose, and the other involves the barbecue itself going down in flames without their interference. The latter plot is also divided into two smaller subplots—Meggy's impatience with Tari grilling the steak, and Melony snapping over the serving of watermelons and other fruits—which blend together into Meggy fighting Melony to calm her down. Then their fight is interrupted by a gunshot from Luigi, who turned himself into a tank after Mario and Bob managed to escape.
  • Women Are Wiser: Pointedly averted. Mario and Bob are locked away to prevent them from ruining the barbecue, but the girls manage to cause their own chaos separate from Mario's antics.
