Mario tries opening a pizza store, but the local competition next door isn't so happy about that
Jealous of Peppino's pizzeria's success, Mario tries opening one himself. Unfortunately, it's located next to Peppino's restaurant and is stealing business from him, drawing Peppino's ire as a feud erupts between both pizza lovers.
- Bookends: The episode begins and ends with someone saying that the pizza's here. Luigi does it with an actual pizza while Pizzaface does it as a joke. Both pizzas also wind up getting wrecked by Mario.
- Eating the Enemy: When Pizzaface shows up, Mario simply leaps at him and eats him.
- Irony: When Peppino trashes Mario's pizzeria, it's Peppino acting as the boss of the Pizza Tower and Mario acting as the guy going in to tear it down.
- Pineapple Ruins Pizza: Mario takes down Pepperman by using a pineapple Toppin to make pineapple pizza, which he then feeds to him. This makes Pepperman remark on its terrible taste and explode.
- Not So Similar: Subverted. Mario and Peppino hit it off very well at first because they have so much in common, but once Luigi points this out, Mario notices just how much more successful Peppino is and goes into a jealous rage. However, it's their mutual passion for pizza that makes them realize they really aren't so different after all, which brings them together as business partners.
- Unstoppable Rage: Mario spends almost the entire second half of the episode in a rage after his pizza shop is destroyed.
