Tropes for this episode include:

  • Beach Episode: A chunk of the episode is set along a beach in the human world.
  • Call-Back: When Tsukune points out that vampires can't go in the water, Nazo butts in and saves everyone time by telling the audience to watch Episode 5.
  • Fantastic Racism: Rubi tries killing Tsukune the moment she sees him, convinced that he is just another human out to destroy Witch Hill. The fact that he's Yukari's friend perplexes her and adds him being a threat to their kinship as witches as a new reason to kill him.
  • Glamour Failure: Nekonome is reminded to hide her tail twice.
  • Hope Spot: Afte Yukari destroys Rubi's plant monsters, the scene is treated like a Dénouement; Yukari has proven herself and Kurumu offers to carry her, Moka expresses how glad she is that Tsukune is okay and they are about to kiss... and then out of nowhere Rubi has Tsukune struck-down by her vines, declaring that she will be taking Yukari whether they want her to or not. The others reveal their monster forms and attack, Inner Moka manifesting in a beam of light with her rosary still on.
  • Man-Eating Plant: Rubi summons a few to attack Tsukune.
  • Mistaken for Aliens: Inverted. With the exception of Yukari (who she sees is a witch) and Tsukune (who actually is a human), Rubi thinks the rest of the Newspaper Club are all human.
