"Don't say goodbye."

With the tremors increasing and the sky splitting open, Church makes a decision. Reflecting on his, the Alpha's and Director's actions, he decides to forget Tex, ceasing her existence and letting her go for good. However, his bitter contentment turns to outrage when he realizes the truth- the Memory Unit wasn't failing, Caboose and Sarge were working to pull him out! And the reason is, even though she swore undying loyalty in the past, now Agent Caroline wants Epsilon's to help her track down the Director and kill him.

Tropes

  • Art Shift: After spending the whole season in the Halo: Reach machinima, Church returns to the Halo 3 format when he reenters the real world.
  • Cliffhanger: The season ends with Epsilon-Church being forcibly removed from the Memory Unit against his will, and the reveal that Agent Carolina is still alive and now wants Epsilon to help her find the Director so she can kill him, despite having sworn her Undying Loyalty to him in the past.
  • Gave Up Too Soon: Tragically, Church gives Tex a Cessation of Existence when it looks like the unit is about to die...only it was actually a rescue attempt, and he just deleted his girlfriend forever.
  • Killed Off for Real: Tex. The original version of her was already dead, and now that Church has "forgotten" her Epsilon version there is no coming back for her.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: When the Episolon version of Sarge sees his real world counterpart talking with the real world version of Caboose instead of trying to kill him, he shouts at his real world counterpart to attack Caboose.
  • Slept Through the Apocalypse: Discussed and played for laughs with Grif. When the Reds think the world is ending, Grif announces he is going inside the base to take a nap. Simmons points out how Grif is choosing to die while napping, and Grif just claims that it's how he lived. Sarge admits that in a strange way he actually respects that.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Church is this from Sarge's perspective, since the first thing he does after they went through the trouble of freeing him is to just shout at them and demand he be put back.
Church: But why would you do that? Why!?
Sarge: Well, clearly it wasn't to hear 'thank you'.
  • Unwanted Rescue: Church is not pleased to be free from the memory unit, especially since Caboose and Sarge's actions were what incited him to Mercy Kill Tex.
  • Wham Line: "I forget you, Tex. I'm letting you go."- Said by Church as he gives up on Tex and lets her fade away.
  • Wham Shot: The sky splitting up to show...Caboose and Sarge in the Halo 3 machinima, IE, the real world.
