Kate and Tevin take Dion to the cabin in the woods, but Brayden secretly follows them there with murderous intend. Meanwhile, Nicole goes in quarantine while Pat struggles to find a cure for her infection.

- Animal Eye Spy: Brayden can use the crows as his spies by mentally looking through their eyes.
- But for Me, It Was Tuesday: In the opening scene, Brayden mentally confronts Pat in his cell. He is furious when Pat, who as the Crooked Man killed his father in front of him, has no idea who he is.
- City Mouse: Kate is clearly no fan of camping in the woods.
- Creepy Crows: Brayden uses them to watch, and later attack, Dion in the woods.
- Don't Go in the Woods: Lampshaded by Kate, who points out how in horror movies the woods are always home to something terrible. And she's right; Brayden is there.
- Feathered Fiend: Brayden uses his mind control to have the crows spy on Dion, and later sics a whole flock of them on Dion.
- Mirror Monologue: Esperanza tries to give herself more confidence by talking to her reflection in the bathroom mirror, but instead ends up admitting she fears she's not good enough.
- Prima Donna Director: Kwame is more and more coming off as one, pushing Esperanza to get her rehearsal right, breaking in on a videocall between Dion and Esperanza to remind Dion to practice, and agreeing to Jonathan's idea to use fireworks in the show even though fire regulations at school forbid such a thing.
- Science Hero: Janelle gets to show off her love for science here when she uses her powers to isolate the DNA strand that gives powered people their abilities, and which Pat needs to find a cure for Nicole.
- Writers Cannot Do Math: According to Simone, Janelle was 6 when she was in Iceland and got exposed to the Aurora event, and Janelle herself admits to being "almost 16" now. So that would put the Aurora Event 9 to 10 years before this episode. Yet, Dion is already 10, and since he inherited his powers from his father, he was evidently conceived after the Aurora Event, which would mean the Event is actually closer to 11 years ago. Either Janelle should have been 5 at the time, or she should be almost 17 now.
