* RecoilBoost: When she changes her ammo cartridge, she turns the weapon to face behind her and fires. Using the recoil, she propels herself into the pack of monsters so fast that the sound effects are supersonic.

* NoDialogueEpisode: The trailer consists of a single girl fighting monsters in a forest. The only sounds are the snarls of the Beowolves, the sound effects and the music score. Ruby herself is utterly silent.

* BloodlessCarnage: Ruby decimates a huge pack of Beowolves, cutting them half, decapitating them, severing limbs. There is no blood. Instead, the creatures seem disslove into red rose petals that drift away on the wind.

* AnchoredAttackStance: To use the scythe as a pure gun, she anchors the scythe blade in the ground, and begins firing shots into the charging hoard of monsters. She can also use this position to stand on the blade, and fire the gun with her feet. She later uses the powerful recoil to speed up her charge into the pack.

* GirlWithAPsychoWeapon: A small girl is confronted by a pack of monsters, only to reveal a massive hybrid weapon, where even the blade is taller than she is. Against these monsters, she becomes a whirlwind of death and mayhem, with spent bullet cartridges, severed limbs and decapitated heads flying all over the battlefield. Upon finishing the fight, she lands in a demure stance that is framed by the enormous scythe.

* OncePerEpisode: The same scene appears in all the trailers, the main character has a slow-mo scene at some point during her fighting where she is up in the air and the moon is behind her. The exception is Yang whose back scene moon is stage lights made to look like the moon.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** The Beowolves are pure black beasts with red eyes and red teeth. When they are killed, their blood dissolves into red petals. When the show starts, the Beowolves have been changed to a new design where they're covered in white bone plating and no longer have red teeth. All Grimm in the show dissolve away into smoke when they die.
** Ruby is portrayed as quiet and stoic, with no lines. In her show debut, she turns out to be a cheerful, optimistic, energetic girl. The creators stated the Red Trailer is more about showcasing the weapon than the character, hence Ruby's minimal characterisation.
