- Bittersweet Ending: The Rangers succeed in saving Tokyo from one of Gruumm's robots and Katana returns to his own time, but this left Newtech city unprotected, allowing the Krybots to steal its reserves of Iridium.
- Fish out of Temporal Water: Katana is this when Gruumm pulls him from his time to present Tokyo.
- Foreshadowing: When Katana returns to his own time through a time portal, a strange floating ball of white energy emerges from it and stays at the present, which becomes important later.
- Honor Before Reason: Katana when fighting Jack, refuses to strike him when the latter is disarmed and returns him his laser. This is what leads Jack to realize that Katana isn't really evil.
- Mistaken for Terrorist: Katana is tricked by Broodwing into thinking the Rangers are this and want to destroy Kyoto.
