Recap / Power Rangers Beast Morphers Episode 25 Game On

Go To

Devon struggles with a Robotron made from his favourite game and a helpful opponent who uses a bug in it to cheat.

Episode Tropes:

  • Ascended Extra: The Ranger Clones. In Go-Busters, they appeared in only a single fight. In Beast Morphers, they show up in two fights.
    • Adaptational Badass: The Ranger Clones actually force the real Rangers to retreat in their first battle, whereas the Go-Buster Clones were beaten in their one and only fight.
  • Call-Back: The video game "Backstreet Brawlers 3" was previously mentioned by Devon in "Taking Care of Business." Also, Devon's holo-clone character, Sensei Bones, is who he dressed up as at the end of "Hypnotic Halloween."
  • The Cameo: Juan, the holographic dance fiesta avatar, is played by James Davies.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: Subverted. Kerry's almost victory was ruined for reasons not related to her cheating. Completely averted during the rematch because nobody cheats.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The move Kerry used in her match with Devon ends up playing a big part in stopping the Ranger Clones.
  • Disqualification-Induced Victory: Subverted. The judge would disqualify Kerry for no longer having a game console to play during a rematch but Devon, not wanting this kind of victory, allowed her to borrow his spare console.
  • Foreshadowing: After learning how the game works, "Mayor Daniels" leaves (saying that he has to "make a call"), with Cybervillain Blaze and Roxy turning up immediately afterwards. It later becomes clear that Evox used what he learned to devise a plan of attack.
  • Gamer Chick: Kerry Dixon.
  • Good Bad Bugs: In-Universe. Kerry tells the Rangers about a glitch in the game that allows them to freeze and destroy Gamertron's Ranger clones.
  • Grey-and-Gray Morality: Kerry reveals that the reason she was cheating to win the championship was not out of a selfish desire to win - she needed the prize money in order to pay for an operation her brother needed in order to play soccer again.
  • Hard Light: According to Nate, this is what the video game's holographic technology uses.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: By showing up and stealing Kerry's console when they did, Robo-Blaze and Roxy inadvertently gave Devon the chance to have a fair rematch with Kerry.
  • The Reveal: Evox lives in Mayor Daniels’s body and is in control.
