Postman Pat and the Magpie Hen is the second episode of Postman Pat.
While on a lunch break, Pat has to chase down a thieving hen to retrieve his keys.
Tropes:
- Brits Love Tea: While delivering the post to the school, Bill Thompson offers Pat some tea.
- Easter Episode: Downplayed: The episode takes place near Easter, as the schoolchildren are setting up a spring-themed display, and Mrs Thompson mentions Auntie Jean writing to say whether or not she'll be coming up for Easter.
- Flying Flightless Bird: Real hens can't fly nearly as far or high as the magpie hen.
- Made of Iron: Pat falls ten feet from a tree into a prickly bush, and emerges with no injury.
- Thieving Magpie: A variant: Mrs Thompson's hens like to take things, thus the nickname "Magpie Hen". One nabs a sandwich out of Pat's lunch, while another flies off with his keys. When the keys are retrieved, it's discovered that the hen had taken numerous other things, including Mrs Thompson's wedding ring.
