The second round of the Pokemon contests have begun, and May is just about to go up against some fierce competition to prove she's qualified to be in the top 16. With Harley, Drew, and now Solidad in her way, she's going to have to step up her game and prove not just to the judges, but to herself, how far she's really come. Meanwhile, Aipom is still getting a little too frisky with Ash's hat, and he decides it's about time to catch the monkey.
- Cliffhanger: The episode ends as Squirtle and Combusken face off against Flygon and Absol.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Drew and Solidad easily crush their competition to make it into the Top 8.
- Foreshadowing: Ash tries to catch Aipom, but the monkey manages to swat the Pokeball away. Next time, Ash. Next time...
- Hoist by His Own Petard: May manages to knock out Harley's Wigglytuff by using it's own balloon-like reflexes against it, catching it off guard and landing a KO.
- Laser-Guided Karma: After all the shit he's pulled in the series, Harley gets eliminated from the Grand Festival on the very first match of the Top 16. He's completely in shock at it.
