Go To

Japanese Title: Cresselia - A Midsummer Night's Light

Original Airdate: July 30, 2021

US Airdate: January 21, 2022

Continuing from the previous episode, Chloe and Dawn must protect an injured Cresselia, as Team Rocket is on the hunt for both it and Darkrai.

Tropes

  • Bullying a Dragon: When Darkrai arrives to defend Cresselia, the Team Rocket squad led by Matori attempt to catch it along with Cresselia. Their plan... doesn't work out.
  • Friends All Along: It turns out despite their powers being exact opposites, Darkrai and Cresselia are not enemies, but are in fact friends with each other. Darkrai purposely secludes itself to prevent from causing nightmares in others, and Cresselia lives near it so Darkrai won't be so lonely. It is also revealed Darkrai has been trying to protect Cresselia from Team Rocket the whole time rather than attack it.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Turns out Darkrai is not Cresselia's enemy. Rather, it had been trying to protect Cresselia from Team Rocket the entire time.
  • Nightmare Sequence: Chloe and Dawn have one of these, though ironically enough, it seems to have been caused by Cresselia having a bad dream on its own, rather than being a nightmare created by Darkrai.
  • Shout-Out: The episode's titles (Both Japanese and English) are references to the Shakespearean play, A Midsummer Night's Dream.
  • Sneeze Cut: Ash does this when Dawn and Chloe talk about him being a Pokemon fanatic.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Thanks to Dawn's encouragement, Chloe learns to stop worrying about things and is able to wind down and have fun with everyone else.
