Recap / Pokemon EC 9 Battling At High Tidal

Go To

Flash finally faces Tidal Wave in a Gym Battle to earn his seventh badge.

  • Continuity Nod: Flash has Astro watch his Gym Battle with the others, telling him to watch closely so he can understand how they work, just like he did with Hopper.
  • Dual Wielding: Ripride uses two Aqua Break swords at the same time at the end of his battle with Leviapent.
  • Heroic Second Wind: Riptide gets one thanks to his Torrent ability, giving him the boost needed to defeat Leviapent.
  • Logical Weakness: Lokelpie can use Sing to put its opponents to sleep, but it can't sing if its throat is hurt. Flash disables its ability to use Sing by having Prongs use Horn Leach and aim directly for its throat.
  • One-Hit Kill: Reefincer defeats Skyler with Guillotine. It nearly does the same to Prongs, but Flash manages to return Prongs before Guillotine can land. Ironically, Reefincer is so tired from battling Skyler and Prongs that Springer easily defeats it with just one Aura Sphere.
  • Stone Wall: Piercish acts as one. It is very tough to damage due to increasing its defense with Iron Defense, and can slowly heal any damage it does receive with Aqua Ring.
