Recap / Pokemon EC 19 Quest For The Dragonheart Orb

Go To

The group runs into Heath Burns again, and learn he and his Blazard are preparing to go on a quest to obtain the Dragonheart Orb, a rare item that will allow Blazard to fully evolve into a Blazegon. Can Heath and his partner pass the trials that await them and prove they are worthy of the orb?

  • Hot Wings: Blazegon has wings that are made of pure fire, but can still fly regardless of that.
  • Iron Butt Monkey: Big Score, Rickashay, and Boulder's role as this is lampshaded by Flash. After Blazegon easily defeats them and sends them flying like usual, Cadance, who has never encountered them before now, says she hopes they are alright, only for Flash to nonchalantly assure her they are since they are used to it by now.
  • Not Rare Over There: The Dragonheart Orb is a rare item that allows Blazard to evolve into Blazegon. Big Score claims that they are so rare, this one might be the very last one to exist, and attempts to steal it to sell it for a high price. After Heath gets it and uses it to evolve Blazard, Spike asks Hydraworm and Burroworm, the guardians of the orb, what they will do now that it is gone. They simply smile and pull out another orb, putting it in place of the old one, and laugh at Twilight's stunned reaction to this.
  • Rule of Three: Heath and Blazard need to pass three trials to obtain the orb; the trial of friendship, wisdom, and courage.
  • Secret Test of Character: The trial of strength is this, making it a bit different from the first two trials. At first it seems like a standard battle, with Blazard needing to battle Hydraworm, the guardian of the Dragonheart Orb, to prove he and Heath are worthy of it. But when it quickly becomes clear that Blazard can't win, Heath forfits, not wanting his friend to get hurt fighting an impossible battle. They think this means they failed the trial, but Hydraworm actually presents the orb to them for this, since they showed they had the courage to admit defeat.
Cadance: You had the courage to stand up and face an opponent that's vastly stronger than you. That's something many trainers have. But there's another type of courage that only an exceptional few have. The courage to swallow one's pride and stand down when they know an opponent is stronger than them. Because admitting we're weaker then somebody else, even if it's obvious, can be one of the most terrifying things to do.
  • This Is Something He's Got to Do Himself: Nobody is allowed to help Heath and Blazard as they perform the trials, otherwise they are disqualified of being considered worthy. Though, there is nothing preventing someone from simply following them and offering moral support.
