After reuniting with Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, Flash and the others learn that in order to challenge the Cloudsdale City Gym he must make it to Cloudsdale by scaling Foal Mountain. Rainbow and Fluttershy join them on their trek up, but are quickly interrupted by an abrasive trainer blocking their path.
- Adaptation Origin Connection: It is revealed that Rainbow Dash got Tank here when she was still just a kid, as opposed to canon where she got him as a young adult. Also, Spitfire was the one who gave her the Pokeball to catch him, whereas she had no connection to Tank or Rainbow getting him at all in canon.
- Broken Win/Loss Streak: After Gilda lost to Spitfire in a Gym Battle, she went down Foal Mountain and challenged herself to beat 100 trainers in a row before challenging Spitfire again. She beat 34 trainers before the chapter, plus Rainbow, before losing to Rainbow in a rematch.
- A Day in the Limelight: This chapter focuses on Rainbow and Tank, revealing how the two of them first met years ago, and has Tank evolve from a Torpeller to a Soartoise.
- Expy: While Tank's design as a Torpeller resembles how he looks in canon, his design as Soartoise looks like Terraspin from Ben 10.
- Guest-Star Party Member: Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy join their group on their trek up Foal Mountain to Cloudsdale City.
- Heroic Rematch: After Rainbow and Tank lose to Gilda and her Mandibuzz, they return for a rematch with Tank winning after evolving.
- Straight Man: Gallus acts as this for Gilda. He acts very uninterested in her antics and points out the flaw of her blocking a public route for her training, trying to act as her voice of reason.
- Took a Level in Badass:
- Fluttershy has grown as a trainer since her time at camp. The gang first see her actually participating in a Pokémon Battle instead of trying to avoid attention, and is shown winning. Angel has also evolved from a Bunnop to a Bunounce off-screen, and defeats a Lickitung in battle.
- Tank evolves from a Torpeller to a Soartoise during his rematch with Mandibuzz and learns Hurricane.
- True Companions: When everyone learns that a rule by Spitfire is that anyone who wants to challenge the Cloudsdale City Gym must scale Foal Mountain to reach the city, Flash offers everyone else to just take a plane up and wait for him since he is the only one who needs to scale it. They all refuse though, insisting they go where he goes. Even Spike, who voices his dissapointment with constantly taking the most dangerous routes.
