Recap / Our Cartoon President S3E16 "Senate Control"

Go To

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer try avoiding responsibility for their actions by throwing the election. Susan Collins runs away to Maine to avoid accountability.

This episode provides examples of:

  • A Day in the Limelight: The B-Plot focuses on Susan Collins biting the bullet and running away because of her dithering.
  • Artistic License – Child Labor Laws: Trump proposes a "Work from Home" Initiative which would basically turn public schools into work houses where they use the students as cheap labor, something that, safe to say, isn't legal in America.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Nancy and Chuck conspire to make the Democratic Party itself unappealing to voters so that they don't have to win the Senate and be held accountable for their authority. What they didn't account for is the idea that they might actually lose the House because of it.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Brett Kavanaugh burns down his and Susan Collins' bar because she cut him off after he starts a Bar Brawl unprovoked.
Brett Kavanaugh: Fair is fair! You call me a mean name, I burn your life to the ground! That's the Brett Kavanaugh experience!
  • Never My Fault: Trump thinks the election is rigged because he's not as likable as Biden.
  • Springtime for Hitler: Nancy remarks that losing in the polls is harder than it should be because of how unpopular Trump's impulsive presidency is. It's here that they decide that supporting Trump is enough to lose.
