Recap / One Hundred And One Dalmatian Street S 1 E 8 Snow Day

Go To

When the family decides to go to the park on a snow day, Dylan and Dolly compete with their parents about who can get their half of the puppies ready first.

This episode features examples of:

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Dawkins finds Doug pretending to be the "hat reindeer" to be this, though his younger siblings disagree.
  • Casual Danger Dialog: Even when he is slipping, sliding and screaming about the House, Deepak still tells Doug how to work the kibble pump, as he slides by.
  • Continuity Nod: There are multiple references to "Winter Funderland" in this episode.
    • One is Doug commenting on London weather reports.
    • Dizzy and Dee Dee refer to snow as "Fluffy" and "Freezy," as they did in "Winter Funderland."
  • Filthy Fun: After all the snow melts, the family decides to slide on the resulting mud hill since its just as slippery.
  • Foreshadowing: A minor example. When the family is searching for the missing Dorothy, Diesel can be seen sniffing after her. In "The Nose Job," he's revealed to have an extremely good sense of smell.
  • Glass Smack and Slide: Happens to Dylan, when he tries to stop the Snow Plow.
  • Rewatch Bonus: In Dylan's headcount, he calls out the names of some background puppies, namely Dixie, Dimple and Dai-ichi. This marks the only time in season one, where the background pups have been named in the show.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Subverted. Dylan and Dolly do this after they have trouble getting all the pups ready for the snow day, with Dylan saying that it feels kind of nice to storm off in a huff... before running back to do a headcount.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • The episode revolves entirely around getting ready to play on a snow day. Unfortunately, considering there are 97 puppies to make sure are healthy enough to play in the snow and are dressed warmly, by the time the family has gotten out of the house and to the park, the snow has already melted.
    • Delilah riding Dolly's board through the snow... however, cause they're on level ground, the board does not have the momentum to move, without needing to be pulled along.
  • When I Was Your Age...: Doug claims, when he was the pups' age, they would eat kibble from bags.
