Recap / One Hundred And One Dalmatian Street S 1 E 25 Long Tongue Day

Go To

Dylan and Dolly make up a story about a Camden Kraken so their family will have the pond to themselves.

This episode features examples of:

  • Art Shift: When Dolly and Dylan do "battle" with the "Camden Kraken," the animation style of them fighting it changes to resemble a manga.
  • Artistic License – Biology: The dogs are shown sweating at some points. While dogs do have sweat glands, most of them are in their paw pads.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Played with. Dylan and Dolly claim this to be the reason they're going after the Camden Kraken, but it's all just an act because they know there is no Camden Kraken.
  • Cassandra Truth: When all the Puppies are scared, Dolly and Dylan try to tell them that they were the ones who created the Camden Kraken; however, the pups think that as Deepak says, Dolly and Dylan are just saying that so the pups will not be scared of the Kraken.
  • The Dreaded: Sir Swan appears to be this as all the animals, even Pearl, run when he arrives.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Dolly and Dylan spread a rumor about a Camden Kraken so the pond will be empty for them and the other Dalmatians to swim in. However, their plan works too well, as all the other Dalmatians get scared of the kraken and Pearl closes the pond off to the public because of it.
  • Heat Wave: The episode takes place during one.
  • "Jaws" Attack Parody: When Dolly is swimming about the pond, biting those in it, one shot has her making this pose as she looms towards a duck.
  • Mailman vs. Dog: Referenced in the opening scene. The postman shows up, but due to the Heat Wave, Diesel is too hot to chase him.
  • Shout-Out: When the pool proves too small for all the Dalmatians to swim in, Dylan comments "We're going to need a bigger pool." Likely a reference to the "We're going to need a bigger boat." line in Jaws.
  • Shown Their Work: When the pond swan hisses at Dylan and Dolly, it's shown to have teeth. Swan beaks actually do have "teeth," or rather, serrated edges used for catching food.
  • Swans A-Swimming: A swan normally lives in the pond, but unlike most examples of the trope, he's ill tempered and territorial, much like real swans. In fact, the whole reason the animals are using the pond to begin with is that he's temporarily staying at the royal palace.
  • Title Drop: Dylan calls the Heat Wave going on a long tongue day in the beginning of the episode, as the puppies use how far their tongues loll out as a thermometer.
  • Underwater Fart Gag: When all the animals are gathered in the Dalmatians' tiny pool at the end of the episode, Big Fee farts in it, much to everyone else's disgust.
