Recap / Numberjacks S 2 E 14 A Different Sort

Go To

Three is leaving the baby Numberjacks (who are pulling funny faces) in charge of her beautiful things. She leaves One in charge of the straight-edged things and Zero in charge of the curvy-edged things, because he's curvy himself. Three tries to explain how to look after the things, but One stands on her head in the middle of a ring-shaped object instead. This frustrates Three, so she decides to sort the things by colour: Zero gets all the "greeny" ones and One gets all the "purply-bluey" ones to match their colours. However, the baby Numberjacks continue to goof around, to the frustration of Three. Just then, the alarm goes off.

Three enters the control room saying, "Zero and One weren't being very helpful with my beautiful things." Six says, "Well, we need you to be helpful now". Agent 12 shares the problem: a little girl's toys are moving on their own—- well, they appear to be moving on their own, except Four and Six suspect they're actually being moved. Six selects Four to go out.

There is nobody in the room but Jasper, so Four gets launched. He lands off a toy, then he and Six ask the Agents for ideas on why the toys are moving. Agent 108 reckons they're moving based on their similarities: some are toy animals and the rest are toy trucks. The toys rearrange again, this time based on size (bigger ones in one group, smaller ones in the other).

Agent 63 then reports picnickers at a park moving into groups, so Four heads to the park to check it out. First the children are separated from the adults, then the people in red shirts are separated from the ones in blue shirts, then back to the age separation. Four then hears the Spooky Spoon laugh and observes her floating above him. Four tells her to stop mixing things up, but Spooky replies that she isn't mixing them up, she's sorting them out, but the trouble is she keeps changing her mind on how to sort them.

Four tells her that she's being mean and she claims that she will stop (Four is proud that he apparently solved the problem) but then she starts doing it again, her excuse being that she gets bored easily. First, they're sorted by age again, but then it changes. The Numberjacks try to figure out how they're sorted and one of the agents wonders if it has to do with what they're holding. Three says that, just like her beautiful things, they're sorted into straight vs. curvy things. Five then imagines the Spooky Spoon sorting people by hair texture and vehicles by colour and type.

They make Brain Gain, but Spooky chases Four away by claiming that the park is only for big things and placing a bench on top of him. However, they need to send the brain gain because there is no room for any more, and it doesn't hit Four. He comes back and the Spooky Spoon claims that the park is now only for green things, but Four turns green. She says it's only for tiny things but he shrinks. She says it's for big things, but he grows. Then, she says it's only for "wibbly-wobbly" things, so he wobbles while returning to normal size. They send the brain gain and use it to solve the problems and send Spooky away. Then, Four comes back and they do the recap. Afterwards, Eight and Nine help sort Three's things and ask the viewers how they can sort the Numberjacks.
