The ninja must learn the secrets of the Techno Blades while on the run from the Overlord's Nindroid forces.
This episode provides examples of:
- Actually Pretty Funny: When Garmadon complains about how everything has so many weapons, Lloyd retorts that Garmadon himself grew four arms just to possess the Golden Weapons. Garmadon chuckles and admits he had that one coming.
- Bittersweet Ending: The blackout shuts down the Nindroids and seemingly the Overlord, but P.I.X.A.L. is shut down as well.
- Chekhov's Classroom: The Art of the Silent Fist is taught to the Ninja by Garmadon, but goes unused outside its introduction scene until the Ninja use it to bait the Nindroids into attacking the power plant's main generator, causing a continent-wide blackout.
- Costume Evolution: Lloyd receives his Techno robes in this episode, changing his main color back to green (though he's still called the Golden Ninja).
- Cybernetic Mythical Beast: The Overlord creates the MechDragon to pursue Lloyd and Garmadon.
- Gory Discretion Shot: When the Nindroids pile on Zane and begin rending him, the shot is blurry and far away. Even when Lloyd comes to save him he is covered by Nindroids or Lloyd. We only see him after the fact.
- Martial Pacifist: Garmadon is revealed to have become this since his Heel–Face Turn, having taken an oath against violence but also acting as a sensei for a group of young children.
- Pietà Plagiarism: Lloyd carrying a battered Zane.
