Summary: Love is in the air for the students of Saint's Academy.

Story

     Valentine's Day
Well, the time has arrived. Love is in the air, and it was time to be romantic, to show some romance, or to gag and laugh to the people with couples. Even the people in Saint Academy knew that, and were getting ready for their day, however it was supposed to go.

Clay

"Have to fight 'em off with a stick swear to high heavens," Clay shivered at the memory of some of the 'fans' Class-1 had gained outside of school, which made just walking around in public a hassel to be sure. But it was worth it for what he now had in his bag, the sure fire Valentine gift for one specific gal in the school. Now he just had to figure out where she would be holed up at this time of day and make the delivery with his usual suave nature. Or well, rough southern charm was about as close as he got to suave but it would have to do.

Zach

The liberation of being free offered quite a bit of....content in the melanokinetic, and it certainly offered quite a bit of recollection of his thoughts. He'd come a long way in the months he was here, from feeling like an actual hero, to getting his curse fixed properly, to finding someone who made him one hundred percent truly happy...

All from the same girl.

He was currently leaning against the wall as he eyed the ornate little ring that had been passed down in his mothers legacy for some time now, being forced to have it and "make a proper wife out of this girl", says his mother.

So maybe...MAYBE...Valentines day was the perfect time to have that question dropped. He had the rest of his life to do it, so why waste all that time if he knew it was something he wanted?

Evelyn

Ooh boy. This awkward time. Evelyn had only ever experienced Valentine's Day once before, and honestly it was one of the strangest experiences of her life. Not because people asked her out or sent her cards or any of that nonsense—as that would require a sense of maturity and capability from her old classmates—but simply witnessing the antics was enough to render her speechless and confused for the rest of that day.

And now it had rolled around again.

Perhaps it was the greater exposure to the strange and unconventional, but she was feeling a lot more stares on her recently—and especially today. She wasn't sure if she liked it or not. It put her on edge. A prolonged stare back with her Third Eye usually scared them off, thankfully, but some of them were persistent. Disturbingly persistent, in fact...

She decided it was best to start walking.

Sam

Being a pretty boy tended to have a few ups and downs. Adding an animal shape, makes things even trickier, even if he hadn't shown it off all that much. Looking at his bounty, he felt mildly satisfied, even if a few things were a bit creepy, and he made sure to toss those away. Even if he did like the chocolate.

But Zach looked thoughtful, and he decided to help out. After all, he didn't have any plans for the day.

"Need some help with your day, man?" He asked.

Zach

Zach jumped almost a solid foot in the air, his eyes wide and nearly dropping the ring in question, barely managing to catch it and staying in that position. With a firm grip on the object in question, he sighed heavily and pocketed it before anything else could be done to cause wacky Looney-toons esque shenanigans.

Oh, hey man. He said as he grinned.Well, um, actually, funny you mention that. He gestured over to him. I'm not sure if you CAN help...but hell, maybe you can! I'm nervous, I'm rambling. I'm trying to... He looked around for a moment, making sure nothing seemed out of the ordinary that you would find in a hallway, in case a certain shape shifter was around here SOMEWHERE.

Knowing his luck, she was.

I think I want to propose to Yoko today. He "whisper wrote" to him, looking over his shoulder.

Sam

The cryokinetic blinked, not seeing that coming, but then smiled.

"Congratulations" He whispered "Want to ask her in a special way? I mean, she'll probably accept if you just wave the ring in front of her, but still, this is the big one."

Zach

Well yes, of course I know I could just-ASK-, but I want it to be special! You know, Valentines Day, big day of romance, the fact I'm going to be living forever ad I want to be symbolic and the fact my mom will kill me if I don't...there's a lot of factors here!

He took a deep, quiet breath and nodded his head firmly. So yes, I wanna ask her in a Special Way.

Finn

"Okay, finished!"It was Valentine's day and well Finn was amongst the legions of those who are single. Instead just sitting in his room all day lamenting, he decided there was something positive that could be done. With permission, he was allowed to turn one room into an area where singles could hang out. He had a entertainment and food set out. Finally, he taped a sign, informing this was the singles room for hanging out.

Shane

Shane's Valentines was a rather predictable affair - in that Shane had already planned out how to spend the entire day shagging various girls. He didn't so much have one dedicated Valentine as much as various lucky admirers. Not since Dawn left...well, he tried not to fixate on the depressing bits. Shane jogged downstairs and saw the guys talking. Shane had his phone out with a few active conversations going on in text messages.

"Hey guys, I can guess what Zach's doing for Valentines Day...well, more to the point who he's doing, but Sammy...do you got a cutie-patootie yet?" Shane paused for a second and then admitted, "Me, I've got a few girls I am gonna be visiting today. Bethany wants to meet up in an hour and a half, Suzanne wants to skinny dip in a few hours after that..."

Sam

Sam decided to offer Zach some chocolate he himself got. It'd be a shame if it got wasted, after all.

Shane's arrival made his plan a bit clearer.

"As much as I'd like to, Zach here has his big plans, and he's gonna need help at setting it up. Gotta look out for a bro, after all" He said.

Zach

Taking a deep, deep, silent breath at Shane's approach, Zach decided for the mean time to simply...bury the hatchet. The admitedly one sided hatchet, but bury it none the less. He needed to be on his A-Game today, no distractions, no down thoughts, just how to make this all pristine and perfect.

And Sam sticking by him was always a good start. He offered a smile and a thankful nod of his head, turning to Shane and offering a little smile. You...sound like you have a busy day today. I do hope you find time for all those ladies, at the least. Lord knows someone like you can do it easily though.

Sally

"Okay, you can do this. Believe in yourself. "Sally was under the stairs, holding the handmade chocolate. It was about decent sized and had a cute design. Earlier today, she had handed out small chocolates to everyone in the class. However, this chocolate was more special though. Getting up, she starting wondering around the halls, holding the wrapped chocolate close.

Ryuu

Well, time for a nap, call out if things get dangerous Sorano said, as Ryuu got the heart shaped necklace in a box in his pocket. It was a great idea in his opinion.

Okay, he could do this.

Even if the earth swallowing him was a tempting fate, he will give this gift.

Come on, dragon boy No fear, no misfortune, and no jelly legs and wish to flee to Scotland will stop him.

Now, he just has to find her.

Yoko

Well Zach was getting savvy to Yoko's antics, as she had taken the form of a random classmate she had constructed using attributes of her other classmates to try and sneak another attack-hug onto him. But the latter part of the conversation caught her attention (specifically the ‘big plans’ part) and so she elected to wait a bit before she made her approach.

Paradoxically, she didn't like to intrude.

"Zach-kun!"

GLOMP

Intruding in personal space, however, was an entirely different matter. As should have been expected by this point. The others got a more subdued greeting (in comparison) in the form of a cheeky, shut-eyed grin and a cheery wave.

"Hey, guys! Excited for today?"

This question was laced with an air of both mischief and a dangerous amount of awareness. One got the impression she was using it as a starting point for relentless teasing for the rest of the today. And she was going to enjoy it.Ash

...#$&%, I slept in...

Bleary eyed, she sleepily reached out for her phone and turned it on.

...Ah, crap... did I miss classes...?

She almost considered getting out of bed, but the combination of a morning headache and her then spotting what the date was was enough for her to decide against it and flop facedown back onto her pillow.

Ah, #$&% it.

She heaved a sigh.

So getting my ass whupped for this...

Rebecca - Dorms

Not long after Ash woke up, there was a knock on her bedroom door.

"Hey, Ash, you awake? " came Rebecca's voice, "I was thinking, seeing as it's Valentine's and we're both single (I hope)" this last part was muttered under her breath, "maybe we could go out on the town together. You know, have a girls' day or something."

Zach

He heard the cry and everything seemed to go in slow motion. To Sam and Shane, they watched the expressions change from general, content happiness and quiet appreciation with Sam's help, to sudden, dawning horror when he realized what he was about to experience.

Ring stillin his hand, panic setting in and probably living in the middle of some kind of wacky rom-com, Zach did the only thing that made sense to himself. As she launched herself, his hand swung up.

He put the ring into his mouth.

And he swallowed it.

The glomp struck him and almost rocked him off his feet, but he caught himself in time (plus, his ink shot out and kept him uprigth, which was nice), and the look of panic was wiped away with a little smile.

Hello dear, sweetheart, love of my life, we were absolutely doing nothing wrong or suspect RIGHT GUYS? He asked, with heavy emphasis and a pleading look to both Sam and Shane to keep their mouths shut about the whole thing.

Sam

"Hey, Yoko" Sam said, casually "Just joking and wishing luck for Valentine's" He said. Zach's swallowing of the ring made him want to face palm, but his thoughts were interrupted by how much Zach failed at acting naturally, but decided to help out.

"Eh, he wanted to make sure he won't botch things up and needed reassurance"

Ash

...‘Girls' day.’

Ash groaned.

  1. $&%ing girls' day my ass...!

There was about five seconds of silence before she heaved a sigh and prised herself out of bed. Trudging over to the door, she flung it open—staring up at Rebecca through half-lidded, unamused eyes.

Until she shrugged.

"Eh, #$&% it. Why not. I'll meet you in five."

She met her in two, actually. One got the impression she rushed through the process of getting ready. But whatever the case, she was soon at the door again dressed in her usual attire.

"Alright then. Humour me. Uhm..." she paused, looking a little uncertain as she glanced about for any sign of Ryuu before continuing.

"...what exactly do girls do on a... on a day out thingy?"

Clay

It had taken some time to actually find Evelyn, mostly because the girl knew how to make herself scarse on instinct. However he was the fourth best tracker of the Bright Riders and he would be damned if he wasn't able to find a cute girl in the crowd. Now came the time to be careful however, she was jumpier then a rabbit around a fox so the approach would need to be just right.

He decided that slow and steady would be better, not trying to mask his moments and giving her a "Hey there darling," long before he was inside of her personal space. That was simple stuff, anyone who had met the girl would be able to figure that out. Step two was a bit trickier, as she would no doubt feel uncomfortable with a gift even on a day like this. "So I was fixing up some grub yesterday and decided to try my hand at something new. Seems I went and made too many, and seeing as how its some special holiday I thought we could share them," he brought his eyes down so she could look through him and opened the box, revealing a number of chocolate and vanilla covered strawberries. It looked like he had tried to do some designs, but it hadn't quite shook out.

Sally

Sally was still wandering about the school.

"Okay, where should I go for now? Am I just being aimless because well...no I can't be nervous. Let's just keep going." Looking up she realized she had walked up to one of the high floors she wasn't familiar with.

"Whoops, where am I?"

Evelyn

...Oh my god.

"O-Oh... that's... that's really..."

Oh my god that's so cute.

"...oh... that's really sweet... thank you...!"

It really looks like he tried to– wait, share?

She momentarily blanched, but soon shook off the feeling in favour of trying to inject as much sincerity into her appreciation of the gesture as possible. Evelyn's naturally passive mannerisms meant that sometimes she felt as if her gratitude never really got across as much as she would like it to. Still, she couldn't hide the small smile on her face. Which to her was equivalent of a full-fledged grin.

That and the blush. But that was basically unspoken. She had no control over that. Especially with her complexion.

"You... you made all these yourself?" she eventually asked after what she personally felt to be an awkward pause—disconnecting her vision from Clay's and focusing her Third Eye on the strawberries so as to get a more detailed view of them. "I... I didn't know you could cook..."

Well, ‘cook’ was a bit of an exaggeration. But considering her own experience (or lack thereof) regarding anything remotely related to the kitchen, dropping an egg on the hard floor was the closest she ever got to scrambling it.

So it wasn't as if she had a great understanding of the more intricate processes.

Clay

"Well I can do a little this and that, but honestly I ain't what one might call a proper cook," which wasn't to say that he couldn't, just that his tastes tended toward more plain meals. If he ate too much he would probably lose his title of fastest hand and switch over to 'largest gut' in the states. Modern day meals simply had too much going on for him to deny wanting himself more. "But I saw this on the t.v., just melt down some chocolates and dip things in 'em, even my fool self could do that much."

He chose to not mention the burned pots where he had scorched the chocolate rather then just melt it down, figuring that his pride was worth maintaining on that fact. "My momma said if you want to show a gal how you feel you should do somethin with your own two hands. Oh wait no shoot I mean, you know I just thought of that, not that I...ah shoot, I can't keep a secret to save my life." he had meant to keep up the illusion of just making them on a whim, but he had shot himself in the foot.

"So what you say," he lifted one of the candy covered berries up for her. "I didn't get much chance to try them yet, car to take the first test?"

Shane

"Dude what are you—-isn't that—-" Shane was basically sputtering for words, trying desperately to figure out how to respond to this. Shane tried desperately when Yoko came over to assume a normal act, but between Zach swallowing the fucking ring and this whole thing, he couldn't stop himself from jerking his head toward Zach every few moments. "Uhhh huuuuh...yeah yeah yeah nothing wrong or sus—-suspect here, no ring finagling no nothing nothing...hahaha...ha, Zach just signed a really good joke. And I'm...I'm still laughing about it."

He tried to salvage this by telling the supposed joke. "What did the bear say when his friends kept arguing? Your arguing is becoming unbearable!"

Ryuu

Deciding to make things simple, he went to the roof. When there is no other place to go but up, things could be taken calmly over there.

Once arriving there, he sent a text letting her know he was there. Sitting down, he simply wondered what he should say.

Evelyn

She smiled shyly as he offered it to her, before delicately accepting it and taking an experimental bite.

...Huh.

It was actually pretty good.

More specifically, it tasted of something. What with the basic gruel from the E·Y·E camp on one end of the scale and her surrogate parents' preference to boiled cabbage and shriveled roast dinners on the other, the girl was honestly taken aback by the taste. Old instincts began to rise to the surface, and she nearly ravaged the entire box before she managed to redirect the feeling to her half-eaten strawberry instead—practically swallowing it whole with her sheer speed.

To Clay, Evelyn's usually reserved demeanour had been replaced by that of a frightened wild animal for the smallest fraction of a second. Something she seemed to be all too aware of, as she swallowed hard and turned a deep shade of red.

"...S-sorry, it's... old habits. They're really nice, see..." she explained a little sheepishly. "And it... that was really sweet of you to do that. Thank you."

She smiled sweetly at him; letting him know his little slip-up in his intent hadn't been poorly received. Although she still looked self-conscious. Stealing glances to the others around them and whatnot.

Yoko

There was a long, long silence from the kitsune after that.

Her brow had furrowed, and one could practically hear the cogs clicking through in her head. Her gaze landed on Zach, then Sam, and then Shane—slowly connecting the dots before her eyes suddenly widened–

"I get it! Unbearable! Hah!"

Or... maybe... not.

"Ah, anyway. Get a better sense of humour. You guys really all look flustered though. Zach-kun's looked like he's just swallowed a fly. You suuure nothing's going on that I'd need to know about~?"

Her tone was melodic and light, but that specific too-wide grin spoke words by itself. The message was clear. Yoko definitely wasn't an idiot.

Zach

Crap. She knows.

Nothing at all sweetheart, I promise it's nothing bad! In fact I think you'll like it a lot! I have a feeling you'll like it a lot!

I sure hope you like it a lot.

He gave her an excited little nod, trying to look as innocent and unassuming as possible, which in the long run didn't work at all because Zach had the nuance and subtly of a bull, in a china shop, who alsohappened to be on fire.

I just wanna make it-today I mean...Special for you is all. He conceded with that, trying not to give too much away.

Dormitories - Mahvash

Mahvash half-pushed, half-sashayed behind a light food cart. Even if it lacked audience, it set the mood. Two nicely presented serving dishes sat atop it. The angel tendons that she had been working with earlier lay neatly placed in a box under the red and richly embroidered tablecloth. If she needed to get back to that, then she'd be discreet.

For herself, she sported a denim set. Tight clothing and bared skin aside, she started off easy for this was only the start of things.

She knocked but once to give Martin a 'warning' of about 3 seconds before entering. If she caught him with his pants down they could skip steps to the other stuff.

Sally

Sally checked her phone upon getting a text.

"The rooftop, okay." she sent a text back that she will be there soon. She managed to find the stairs and made it to the roof door. She took a deep breath before she opened the doors.

"Hello." She says.

Sam

The slimmer cryo looked ready to face palm, but restrained himself. Pulling out several chocolate boxes, he simply decided to bribe her.

"OK, Yoko" He said "Zach is nervous about today, since it's the first time he has a relationship for Valentine's, and he wants to do something good, so give us a few hours to set it up, and you can get all of this" He put the boxes in her hands.

Ryuu

Well, there she is He thought, as the dragon turned to see the cute cyborg. Not helping, brain

"Hey" He said, nervously "Nice day we have here. Tons of funny sights too" He winced, seeing how stupid he is looking. Pulling the box out of his pocket, he got closer.

Here goes nothing

Sally

"Nice to see you too."Seeeing the box as he got closer, she saw it was natural to hand out what she brought. It was really nice of him to get to get a gift. She held out the wrapped chocolate she brought.

"Oh, I brought something as well. Here you go, I made for this for you." She held out the wrapped chocolate.

"Alright, moment of truth."

Ryuu

Ryuu smiled, more nervous than his usual grin, but just grasped the chocolate with one hand, and handed the present with the other.

"Great, great" He said "Didn't know what to give ya, but I saw this and thought it would go well with the hairclips, so..."

He opened the chocolate, holding his breath.

Rebecca

... what did girls do on a day out? Rebecca honestly wasn’t sure. That was beside the point however, because Rebecca had spent last night planning the perfect not!date.

... and now that she was in the moment she couldn’t remember any of it. Dammit.

... she should probably say something before Ash started giving her weird looks.

“That is... a very good... question.... Come to think of it, I don’t actually know.”Rebecca shrugged.“But who cares what most girls do? We’re not exactly normal girls. What do you want to do?”

Saved it.

Martin-Dorm Rooms

Martin of course was none the wiser to the approach of his immeniate doom in the form of a surprise breakfast by his...well he wasn't all to sure what he and Mahvash were but he would at least go with 'friends who had kissed one time', which probably had a better phrase that he just had no idea of. Still when she pushed into his room Martin had just changed after his post workout shower, his hair still dripping the ocassional dropplet of water.

"Oh, Mahvash, I wasn't expecting to see you until later." he went over to his drawer and pulled out a long box covered in golden paper, offering it over to her. "I didn't know what kind of chocolates you liked, so I decided to make macaroons in a few different flavors!"

It took a minute for his brain to actually register her outfit, a blush running along his cheeks. "I um, I like the outfit. Its very...you."

Clay-Over the Moon

He couldn't help but chuckle at the way she devoured the strawberry, taking it as a compliment to his skills. Or at least that he hadn't been wrong to go with something that wasn't a traditional box of chocolates that people seemed to go crazy over. "You shoulda seen me when I first tried a chocolate shake in this era, I had ta be pulled out of the room after drinkin five of 'em."

Modern day food was filled with enough flavor to make it a treat, given that most of his meals had been heated up over a camp fire with some salt on it if he were lucky. The idea of food being anything but what one needed to survive was still a concept he was working with.

"There are plenty in here, so grab whatever you want," he took one and bit into it, savoring the flavor for a moment. "After all, one sweet thing deserves another." Clay gave a wink to the ever red faced girl.

Sally

"Thank you!" She says as she hands off the choclate and takes the little box. She was smiling very shyly. Slowly, she opened the little box. It was a pretty heart necklace. It did match the clips like he said.

"I love it! Thank you much!" She says as she puts it on. It was super nice and considerate of him. She felt so happy and couldn't stop smiling.

Ash

"Uh..." Ash blanched.

  1. $&%. I was hoping she'd suggest something.

"...Okay. Um, tell ya what. Why don't we just... like... roam the town, or something? I dunno, see what catches our eye... an' like... go from there or some s***? That sound good?"

Nailed it.

Yoko

Well, suffice to say the kitsune's suspicion diffused in an instant. Especially with the bribery of chocolate. She practically vibrated with excited giggles before she managed to contain herself and clear her throat.

"Gomen. I'll leave you be then. I'll be back in... ooh, an hour? Hour and a half. I'm feeling generous," she winked, the mischievous glint in her slitted eyes more apparent than ever. "No pressure~! I'll take my time! Ash's room looks so boring right now...!"

The fox had vanished into an imperceptible blur of speed and manic giggling before the last syllable of her sentence had even properly reached their ears. At the very least they got their wish.

It was just a shame that she had decided to give Zach a farewell kiss on the forehead at such speeds. Most likely he had missed her retreating form due to him suddenly finding himself faceup on the floor instead.

Evelyn

Or ever purple faced girl after that point. Semantics. Though regardless, she accepted another as offered and pathetically tried to hide her face behind it as she ate it; ducking her head down low and peeking up at him through a slight gap between her knotted hair.

"...Th... Thank you..."

She swallowed, and mentally slapped herself. Then again. Then again again when that didn't work. Her throat had suddenly felt clogged up, but she managed to force out a question in even the slightest hope it'd change the subject somewhat.

"...How... how's it been? Adjusting, I mean. Uh... b-because it's been pretty difficult for me and I was just wondering..."

Oh great. That helped. Made it personal now. Couldn't even read up on something before you had the displaced cowboy pining for you?

...Granted she probably wouldn't be able to tell what that something was, but rarely did rational thought rear its head when she was embarrassed.

Clay

His smile dipped in the same way it always did when someone asked about the past, not an outright frown but a look of solemn contemplation. "Its been a ah- shoot whatcha call it, work in progress."

So many things had changed in the time since he had left. Sure people were still bull headed and if Geae was anything to go on still scared of others that didn't match them. And if it weren't for the hero business he would have been utterly lost.

"Don't know if I can be much help, but if yah got yourself a question I'm all ears." it seemed like even a unrepentant flirt like Clay could take things seriously. Plus he was pretty sure if any more blood reached her cheeks she would die.

Evelyn

Well that was a relief. But of course now he'd taken it seriously Evelyn found herself completely lost as to what she wanted to ask him. Not out of a lack of questions, though—more of a confusing overabundance of feelings and emotions that she had to seriously consider before converting into words.

"...Do... do you...?"

She swallowed again. Damn it. How could she phrase this?

"...H... How do you... how do you... let go of things and... and grow up?"

Well that could've been phrased better. Still, it wasn't as if it was meant as insulting to him or anything. There was a bitter resentment lacing her tone, but from the way she diverted her gaze to the floor and furrowed her brows it seemed more self-directed than anything else.

Zach

Being on the floor was the absolute least of his worries. He stared up at the ceiling, waiting for any sign that Yoko was still around.

When he was sure the coast was clear, he sighed. One hand went down to his stomach and slipped into it, like his hand was pushing through a puddle of water. He began to feel around slowly, a look of concentration on his face before he pulled his hand, and the ring, out from his body.

Ill be the first to admit...that could have gone better... he grinned nervously up at them. But I appreciate the looking out guys...really I do. I owe you both.

Yes, he was even thanking SHANE. Shocking, huh?

Clay

Through others might have Clay didn't take offense, he was suprisingly good at reading situations where people couldn't convert their feelings to words, most likely because he was rather bad at it too. "This is, more of a sitting conversation," he walked her over to one of the sitting areas, putting the candy covered strawberries on her lap and tipping his hat over his face.

"When I was young, my ma was...well she ended up passing before her time if you pick up my meaning." he didn't want to go into details, mainly because it felt like salting a wound. "I spent a long time after that pretty much devotin my entire life to revenge, or justice if you like. After I got it, well it didn't do a bit to make me feel better 'bout nothing."

Clay took off his hat and rested it on his own lap, letting out a drawn out breath. "Some point I got wise to the fact that by letting all that eat me up that I was just letting it win. I guess, to answer your question. Yah gotta just decide what matters more. Living a good life, or lettin the past dictate how things should be." he took a moment then laughed at himself. "Sorry, that probably wasn't even a mite helpful. Really no good at this advice business."

Dorm Rooms - Mahvash

"Heh. Of curse." Mahvash took the box and one piece before messily mashing it between her lips, leaving a chocolate drizzle on them. "And I like these kind."

She put a finger under his chin, leaning in tantalizing slowly to share said chocolate, lip to lip. "And that." She ran her fingers through his wet hair before shoving him back. "Now, I meant to give you breakfast and bed. You're not allowed to go escaping."

Mahvash took a seat on him, wrapping an arm around his neck before uncovering her own dish. She'd made a version of sushi, except using beef fillets and fish. "I rolled you some surf and turf sushi. And the normal breakfast foods, but this first. And its purified of course." She took some on a fork before giving it to him.

Martin-Dorm Rooms

At first Martin was just pleased that his gift ended up being something that his...well they had never really defined what they were supposed to 'be' but he assumed that for at least now calling her his valentine wouldn't be totally out of order. Then of course came them 'sharing' the chocolate and Martin's face took on the properties of a tomato.

Before he was able to respond however he found himself being pushed down on his bed and met with a rather delicious looking spread of food. It was enough that he somehow overlooked the 'no escape' clause of this encounter.

Minding his manners he took a bite off of it and quietly swallowed it down, savoring the flavor and giving a nod of approval. "This is delicious, but you really didn't have to go all out for me you know." he was the kind of person who would be over the moon to receive a card or text, this was a bit out of his range. "Just getting to spend time with you on a day like this is good enough for me," that being said he still seemed eager to eat more after his workout.

Evelyn

"No... it's okay..."

If nothing else, he's confirmed it... there's no point in dwelling on these things...

"I guess... I guess this is something I'll have to find out for myself."

She smiled at him.

"Thank you."

There was a brief silence, before her smile faded again into a look of uncertainty. A shaky breath, then her gaze was upon him yet again.

"S-still, though, I... do you think that..."

She blushed, before looking down at her lap.

"...c-could... could you help me...?"

Clay

It seemed that at least some bit of what he had rambled on about had been useful, small miracles he supposed. "Pleasure darlin'." even if they hadn't been connecting like they had been, it wasn't like he would have turned his back on her.

But then once she made her request he couldn't help but smile, putting his hat back on his head and giving it a tip in her direction. "Evelyn, nothing on heaven or earth could stop me from helping." it was rare for him to use anyones name so directly, usually falling back on nicknames or titles. Still he pulled himself up and seemed to pause for a moment, a smile creeping over his face before leaning down and kissing the top of Evelyn's head. "Don't matter what, I'm here if yah need me."

W̶͘͞H̶̸̛A̡T̵҉ ̵̸I̢͘̕N̡͜͠ ̢͘Ţ͜͟H̛́҉̵E̕͟͠ ̢̛͟E̶͟͞V̴̀͏È͏͢Ŗ̛L͘͠͞I̡͞V̕͟͝Ì̴͟N̨̛̕G͟ ̸F̴̶̢U̷͜–̸

...

...

...Did he just...?

Evelyn's eyes snapped wide open as her breath caught in her throat.

He just...!

A barely audible squeak escaped from her lips, all three of her eyes rolling into the back of her head as she rapidly turned the colour of a ripe beetroot.

And then she tipped over.

WHUMP

At least the uneaten strawberry had remained intact.

Clay

"Shoot, if you were that tired you shoulda just said something," he couldn't exactly leave her in this condition, so he simply took off his hat and set it on her head in such a way that no one could tell that she was out of it and sat next to her, looking at the last strawberry. "Really should save it fo-" before he could finish he had already eaten it. "Well dang, thats a right shame."

Still, there were worse things to do then spend the day next to someone you liked.

Sam

"No worries" Sam said, nonchalantly "You may owe me some sweets, but we'll talk of that later. We have work to do" With that, he dragged Zach to prepare everything.

After all, not everyday you are involved in a marriage proposal. And he has no plans to freeze the Abyss over.

Zach

And not much time to do it. He wrote to himself as he was dragged casually away by Sam, taking a deep sighing breath and rubbing his face slowly. Do you think I'm rushing too fast into this? D you think I should wait? Cause everything about me wants to do it now. Cause...well, immortality. All the time in the world and all that.

Ryuu

Ryuu smiled at the gift, opening it, and taking a bite "It's great" He said, cheerfully, before giving her a big hug.

Sam

"I dunno, man" Sam shrugged "Never did anything like that, besides, you kinda promised forever when you only had a short time left" Looking up, he simply wondered what else to say "Well, you wanted to, so better do it while you still have some courage"

Zach

...Yeah! Yeah you're right! I shouldn't be worried about this this is something I've wanted! I'm just...nervous, because, well, marriage, but with you helping out I can get this done! I just... He paused in the middle of his little dramatic speech. Need to...figure out how to go about doing this, then. Maybe...maybe some kind of winter themed idea...or....Hmmm...

Dorm Rooms - Mahvash

Mahvash grew an impish grin that only mean good. "Didn't have to. I did. Completely worth it." She strategically blocked stretched an arm alongside him, blocking on path away and leaned forward. "And that face is an excellent reward."

"Now that you've got the time..." She took another chocolate, lightly mashing it the same way as before. "We can figure out something to do in this position. Or get an early start? We could always run out and raise your expectations..."

Sam

"I got what you need" Sam grinned, deciding to make something in the grass, as a ferris wheel formed behind them. As snow and ice surrounded the area and a dance floor was formed. A couple statues of Yoko and Zach, locked in a dance (or Yoko swinging him around, anyway) surrounded the area.

"How do you like that?"

Zach

How in the actual Genuine- he wrote in surprise, his eyes wide and almost faltering over onto his face as the area around them turned SO rapidly, SO fast, SO drastically it didn't even look like they were on school grounds, spinning in a little circle and combing a hand in his hair in silent awe.

Sam, my friend, you are AMAZING. my GOD.

Sally

Upon being hugged, she hugged back.

"I'm glad you like it. Happy Valentine's Day." In that moment, everything just felt right. There was a warm feeling overcoming her but, it was a feeling she welcomed.

Sam

"No problem, it's a good exercise" Sam tried to downplay it, but he was proud of his work. Sometimes, a guy wanted to be artistic. "I'd offer to call for some take out, but there are even odds on her eating all the chocolate I gave her in one go, so..." He decided to not thing too hard about that. "Anything else?"

Ryuu

The dragon boy was red in the face, but just enjoyed the moment.

"Happy Valentine's, Sal" He whispered.

Zach

He looked around silently at the massive winter wonderland his friend had created. The gears turning in his head before he gave him a little shake of his head and a thumbs up. I think this is perfect, man, I’m gonna go tell her to come back. and walked off, texting her excitedly.

Martin-Dorm Rooms

"Still," he pulled closer to her as she slid her arm around him. Being close to her was easily the most terrifying and pleasant experience he could think of. She was pretty confident in basically everything she did, it was odd but in a good way.

"I'm not quite sure what you mean, but um...I don't have much experience with this sort of stuff, so just a warning ahead of time." a blush came over his face, as he was certain this kind of situation was raising the kind of flags that got flash forwarded past. Through at the same time given Mahvash she could have been talking about anything.

Sam

"Good luck" Sam said, deciding to give some space, but staying where he could see what happens. Someone has to operate the stuff, after all.

Dorm Rooms

"Good man," she whispers, wrapping her arms tight er snugly around Martin as he moved in. "And experience with what, communion? Well, I'm right here."She only wrapped her arms tighter, sealing him in and emphasizing their closeness. And her deathly chill. And lack of heartbeat or breath. And the slightest flow of something crawling where her 'skin' should be.But then she 'breathed' into his ear. "I'll lead you right through it."

Dorm Rooms - One Flash Forward

"Oh, How did you want to spend the time with me then?" She said sitting on the edge of Martin's bed some time later. And asking that rather late. Even she realized it, given her impish smile.

"I'm right here for you today. And more. But especially today." She pressed her palm against her neck before facing away in mock shyness while booming as if performing an opera. "Go on and tell me thy will and what plans you have for me and my holy body."

Zach - Aided in a Flash Forward

Alright so, I know I was acting weird, and...well, really weird earlier but I promise, it's all gonna be worth it as soon as you turn this corner, okay? I know it's....okay I'm saying weird alot, I'm kinda nervous about what I have planned so I hope you're okay with putting up with me saying the same words over and over and over again. But it's just...it's really special, okay? For you, and...well, for what we got in the future.

He was currently leading Yoko back to their designated spot that Sam had masterfully created for such an important event, and the dawning moment was coming to fruition and reality the closer her stepped. He just hoped he could do this without passing out. Or losing the ring.

Feeling the front of his pants for the ring, he sighed softly in relief when he felt it there.

Yoko

"Zach. Calm down. It's okay," Yoko soothed, glancing over at him for a moment as they walked before fixing her gaze ahead again. "Relax. You know I hate it when you're stressed out..."

A slight bite of the lip at that displayed her own trepidation, but it was also mixed with a flutter of excitement. She had the vaguest inclination of what might be going on, but she was too nervous to even say for definite that it was that.

‘For what we got in the future’, huh...?

She inwardly smiled as she unconsciously placed her hand over her stomach for a brief moment, before gathering herself and resuming her focus.

...Huh. Was it her, or was it looking a little chilly?

Zach

Right. She was right. Of course she was right. Breathe, just breathe, in and out. This was just going to be a huge event that probably would help define the rest of his infinitely-acquired life, no pressure whatsoever.

None. Whatsoever.

His mind was currently going at about Mach 3 but you woudln't know that based on his expression alone. So, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath and tried to put his brain to a screeching halt, he looked over his shoulder at her.

I...really should be thanking Sam for almost all of this. I would no where near be as prepared if it wasn't for him. But...um...here's part one. And he gently pulled her around the corner to show the immense frozen wonderland that had been effortlessly constructed before the two of them, SPECIFICALLY for the two of them.

Sam is this goes without a hitch I will owe you until the end of time. Shit, I'll make you one of the twins' Godfather. He silently thought to himself as he looked over at her for her reaction.

Yoko

As one would expect, the kitsune was more than a little taken aback at the sight. Slack-jawed in awe as she overlooked the gorgeous ice sculptures surrounding them, she couldn't help but find herself caught up in their glistening surfaces—the light bouncing around in such a way that it seemed to refract into a wide array of glittering colours.

"This... this is..."

She broke out into a broad smile as she shook her head in mild disbelief of what she was seeing.

"This is beautiful."

Now, she was no stranger to Sam's sculptures. But the sentiment of it and the intricacies were truly something to behold. Seeing the pair of them represented in such a way made her her heart flutter with awe. She was perhaps about to thank him, but then his words registered in her brain.

"...‘Part one’?" she echoed curiously, tilting her head a fraction as she looked at him. So ‘part two’ would be the bit he was so worried about. Well that made more sense than ice sculptures. Lovely as they were, it was by no means anything to get this worked up about. Whatever he was dying to tell her must've been something much more important.

So she gave him a little smile, trying to ease his worries. She'd still yet to reconstruct her second hoshi-no-tama, so she couldn't do so through empathy—but she could at least try the old fashioned way. She had no doubt it'd only help so much though. He looked like he was on the verge of a fit of trembling.

Zach

No turning back. Nothing stopping him now. The best thing to do was to ask right then and there. To get the question out and enjoy the time he had with her.

Just speak it from the bottom of your heart. A heart that he wasn’t entirely sure he still had anymore. He needed to sort out his anatomy for future references.

But this was far from the time and especially far from the place to be having that thought process.

When I first came to Saint Academy, I came here knowing exactly what I wanted to do. I came here to be a hero in the time I had before I died. And I was so sure of what I wanted, it was finalizing. Nothing swayed me from that thought. Until I met you.

He turned to face her. I wanted to live for the first time in like, forever. I wanted to be...something else, than what I was going to be, what I planned to be. Without even trying, you changed the way I thought, and you changed my plans. You made me want to be more than what I was planning.

The time I’ve spent with you, this year, has been a whirlwind I can’t even fathom thinking over. I never thought I would meet someone so...you. So kind and compassionate, funny, smart, wise and caring, let alone someone who would think me as even remotely interesting. Eiju...a while back...told me about that feeling he has, how he still feels that burning live even after being together for a millennium. And I realized I wanted that more than anything. That warmth and love every day, the kind I feel when I look at you, but foreverThis is probably...really stupid in practice, cause we’re both already immortal but I figured it would be important and well meaning. If we’re going to be together forever, seeing the world and seeing wherever life takes us, there’s no one else I could ever imagine spending the rest of time with than the woman who fixed me, and made me the happiest man on the planet.

Do it, just fucking do it, stop thinking about it and do it

Yoko.

He spun and was kneeling down on the ground. His ring in his hand. His face down to avoid letting her see he was probably about to pass out.

...Will you marry me?

Yoko

Oh.

Yoko was lost for words as she stared down at Zach's prone form, then slowly looked around as it finally hit her what the effort and preparation had been for.

It had been for her.

This entire time, he had been fretting over her.

She didn't know what to think.

So she didn't.

"You... all this..." she breathed, looking down at him and finally seeming to notice the fact he was kneeling to her with a ring outstretched. She smiled tearfully—nodding mutely and rapidly for a few moments before she finally found her voice again.

"Yes... yes of course I'll–"

She cut herself off as she lunged at him, wrapping her arms tightly around his body as she caught him in a passionate kiss. She let it linger for a solid few seconds before she drew back a little, out of breath yet clearly ecstatic.

"Why... wh-why wouldn't I...? O-of course I will!"

She couldn't help but giggle sporadically amidst her subsequent peppering of him with kisses. She still couldn't quite fathom it. A kitsune marriage was usually a quiet and intimate proceeding, but rarely was it as big or extravagant as a traditional marriage. Unless other yōkai bore witness to it, of course. In which case it became a truly bombastic and celebratory event.

But the thoughts of all the people she knew—both fellow yōkai and of Class 1—the very possible imaginings of them all being there to witness it; it brought tears to her eyes.

Yoko had already expressed her desire to spend the rest of her unending life with the one she loved so dearly.

But to hear him say it right back to her and immortalize it with this humble gesture, well that was something different entirely.

"...I don't think I could say ‘yes’ any more if I tried..." she mumbled.

Sam

Sam decided to keep his distance, even if he could move the things around, he wouldn't be able to know how things ended until they tell him.

Putting on some music, he sat back and waited.

He still had to clean up, after all.

Zach

All of the stress, all of the deep, inner doubts he had, the fears he had about her saying no, washed away with only lingering thoughts of how he ever thought she would say no. He gave a loud sigh (or as loud as mute like him could reach), her happy exclamations only invigorating his own excitement, his arms wrapping around hers and fighting back the stupidest smile he could ever muster.

Holding up the ring for her to see it, one of the tendrils quickly wrapped around around it and carefully, gently, placed it at her ring finger. He finally pressed for one final, deep kiss and pulled away, resting his forehead on hers and looking up into her eyes, smiling and simply mouthing off a simple "I love you".

He couldn't even properly describe how happy he was. His arms tightened around her a bit more and just enjoyed the closeness the two of them shared, and would share for the unforeseeable future.

And then the music started, and so unexpected he almost snickered.

Thanks buddy. Just the icing on the cake. He thought to himself, grinning internally. Nothing could ruin this moment.
