Go To

The 16 remaining students advance to the final stage, with battles one on one to decide the winner. Before the fights begin, Todoroki has a private talk with Izuku, revealing the reasons for his hatred toward his father, the world's second-best hero Endeavor.

Tropes:

  • Bait-and-Switch: After Todoroki pulls Izuku aside to talk to him about his history, it seems as though he's caught on to Izuku's connection with All Might through One for All. In actuality, he was suspecting that Izuku may be All Might's secret love child, which segues into Todoroki's own backstory about his father fathering him solely to create a hero that could surpass All Might. Todoroki, however, does catch on that something is up with Izuku due to the latter's reaction to the question.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Todoroki, having noticed a similarity between Izuku and All Might's Quirks, asks Izuku if he's All Might's secret love child.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The first dialogue scene with Enji Todoroki, better known as Endeavor, sets him up as an extremely unpleasant individual with a seething envy of All Might who is willing to put his own son through Hell to make sure he surpasses the latter Hero, shown when he angrily rebuffs All Mights attempt to be friendly and then disconcerts him with the declaration that the boy he "created", Shoto, will surpass him.
  • Exact Words: Todoroki points out that Izuku, while denying being All Might's secret love child, specifically says "That's not it at all," indicating that there is still a connection between the two of them.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Mineta manages to trick his female classmates into dressing up as cheerleaders like the upper-class students before the next round. This includes Uraraka and Yaoyorozu, who are both among the finalists. Jiro and Yaoyorozu are pissed, but Hagakure decides to just roll with it.
  • Tournament Arc: The final main event is a traditional 1-on-1 tournament battle.
