Monkey King and MK have to get through to Azure Lion before he destroys the world with the Jade Emperor’s power — and even then, nothing will be the same again.
Tropes:
- Alas, Poor Villain: Azure Lion is destroyed by the Jade Emperor’s power after fixing the damage he caused using it, with Monkey King taking a moment to mourn his old friend after he fades away.
- Beach Episode: The episode ends as one, with the whole gang and the Demon Bull King Family having a beach party on Flower Fruit Mountain to celebrate their victory. Even Macaque joins in, sharing a peach popsicle with Monkey King.
- Bittersweet Ending: The Sweet; the world is saved once again, MK is one more emboldened to make the world a better place after a season of self-doubt, Macaque and Monkey King have finally begun to mend their friendship after centuries, and the Monkie Kids + the Demon Bull Family end the special by having a beach party together. The Bitter; Azure Lion didn't survive using the Jade Emperor’s power, Yellowtusk is left alone and imprisoned after Peng ditched him, and the Celestial Realm is now in shambles after the death of their ruler, making the future for our heroes incredibly uncertain.
- The Dog Bites Back: After putting up with years of abuse from his sworn brother, Macaque allows Peng to flee the battle, though not before throwing one of Peng's own insults back at them.Macaque: (with a grin) After all, you always were the most cowardly of the bunch.
- Dying as Yourself: After almost losing his mind to the Jade Emperor's power and taking the rest of the world with him, Azure Lion is brought back to his senses by Monkey King and MK. He then decides to achieve his goal of saving the world by doing so right then, controlling himself long enough to fix the tears in reality he caused...even though he can’t keep the power from completely destroying him afterwards, he is able to die as the noble and compassionate warrior he once was.
- Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Monkey King questions Azure over how he not only escaped the underworld but managed to steal the memory scroll. As he muses on the improbability of Azure being able to do this on his own, it dawns on Monkey King that he may have been set up to do so.
- Vagueness Is Coming: At the beach party, Macaque warns Monkey King that right now they're living in the calm before the storm, with the latter agreeing but assuring they’ll handle it when it comes. Meanwhile, the Kings of the Underworld meet to discuss the traitor among them who set up the events of the season, warning that their actions will lead to an unforeseen terrible calamity they know to be coming.
