Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, and Nie Huaisang are taking an exam; and Wei Wuxian attempts to help Nie Huaisang cheat while avoiding getting caught.
- Epic Fail: Despite Wei Wuxian giving Nie Huaisang a good opportunity to copy Lan Wangji's answers, Nie Huaisang ends up flunking the exam.
- High-Pressure Emotion: Downplayed. After getting flustered by Wei Wuxian drawing a portrait of him (and continuing to throw paper balls in his direction), Lan Wangji literally starts blowing puffs of steam off his head.
- Rule of Three: Wei Wuxian tries three different strategies to help Nie Huaisang cheat in a test.
- The Unseen: Although Nie Mingjue speaks, he's never seen in the episode. The closest thing to a glimpse the viewer gets of him is the cloud of dust he leaves behind while he chases after his younger brother.
