"MD-5... let's finish this!"
Plans are thrown out the window and Tari is forced to make a decision. Meanwhile we learn more about Lucinia's mysterious past.
Tari and MD-5 are on the verge of victory against Evelyn and Lucks in Hidden Heroes... but not everything has gone exactly to plan. Meanwhile, Masa and Belle, brought back together under less-than-ideal circumstances, reminisce of the night before Lucinia's disappearance.Episode 18 provides examples of:
- 11th-Hour Superpower: Right when Eveyln is about to eliminate Tari, Tari suddenly gets taken over by the mysterious mass from the previous episode, which gives her a boost and allows her to overpower Evelyn and eliminate her instead.
- Cliffhanger: Tari and Lamar defeat Evelyn and escape with the TAS Corp server data, but Theo is still trapped in the corrupted Ultra Jump Mania, and Masa and Belle have ended up captured, with the data being unexposed being their only guarantee of currently keeping them unharmed and/or alive. However, Tari still has a plan to free the latter three.
- Diabolus ex Machina: The last time that we saw Theo and Belle, they were almost home free. But here, Belle is discovered by the guards at TAS Corp and is captured offscreen, leaving Theo on his own again.
- Flashback: While in the holding van, Belle and Masa reminisce about the last night they both saw Lucinia, before the Project Blue incident.
- Given Name Reveal: Lucks' first name is revealed to be Derek.
- Pyrrhic Victory: Tari and Lamar are able to defeat Evelyn, download the backup of the server and escape to meet up with Sofia, but Theo, Belle and Masa are in Lucks' captivity, and Sofia can’t release the incriminating data without risking them being hurt, or worse. That said, the episode ends with Tari declaring that she has a plan to free the trio, determined to finish MD-5's mission once and for all.
- Rule of Three: This is the third episode that focuses on the tournament the whole season was building up to.
- Villainous Breakdown: Evelyn does not take her defeat well, and ends up a screaming wreck, briefly tussling with Tari as she attempts to retrieve MD-5's cartridge.Evelyn: This was my special day, and you! Ruined! EVERYTHING!
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: When confronted in the holding van by Belle and Masa about covering up Lucinia’s fate, Lucks insists that his cover-up and his various other misdeeds were for good reasons:Lucks: Everything I did, I did to protect this company. And until the point of where you betrayed me, that included the both of you! There are things in play here that neither of you know or understand!
- Yank the Dog's Chain: You'd think after the events of the previous episode, Theo would be on his way out of the corrupted Ultra Jump Mania thanks to Belle. Nope! Belle is discovered offscreen and Lucks has her captured, and Theo is right back where he started.
