- Adaptational Badass: Desert Man is able to make himself and his viruses invisible despite not having this ability in Battle Network 3, unless you count the brief time he blinded Proto Man during the N1 Grand Prix.
- Mythology Gag: Search Man splattering the invisible Mettaurs with paint and tracking them to Desert Man's location is a nod to his ability to shoot invisible enemies.
- Pet the Dog: Despite it being at Lan's expense, Laika does give credit to Mega Man's Double Soul ability and praise his skills.
- The Power of Friendship: Mega Man obtains Search Soul and without needing to worry about a hostage is able to make quick work of Desert Man.
- Took a Level in Badass: Desert Man has conquered his weakness of water element attacks.
- Sadistic Choice: Desert Man takes Mega Man hostage and holds him over a vat of magma to make Search Man not shoot
