Recap / Masters of the Universe: Revelation S1 E8: The Gutter Rat

Go To

At Point Dread, Adam and Randor finally part and Randor asks how it is possible for Adam to have returned. Adam turns to his friends and tells them that they are the ones who brought him back and protected him. Randor and Teela reunite with the king thanking his former Man-At-Arms for saving his son and Teela apologizing for leaving, though Randor assures her there is nothing to apologize for. He also thanks Cringer for defending his son despite his usual scaredy-cat ways.

He then turns to Andra and asks of her any reward he can give. Andra reveals that she lost her family when she was young and that ever since all she has ever wanted was a place to belong. As such she merely wants to stay with Teela and her new friends. Randor agrees and christens her a lieutenant in his army.

Suddenly a squad of hover craft come by one of which is carrying Queen Marlena. Once she sees her son alive and well the Queen and Prince embrace having reunited. However there is noticeable tension between Randor and Marlena as the King hangs back. After telling her mother that his resurrection is a long story Marlena takes Adam away for a long overdue talk.

In the dungeons of Castle Greyskull Duncan is seeing to the Orlax which is weak due to the castles new residents. Evil-Lyn arrives and mocks Duncan for being weak, believing the former most dangerous man in Eternia is now impotent from a lack of battle. Duncan is unimpressed with attempts to bully him and the Orlax noting that he has seen how true power is wielded.

Evil-Lyn enquirers about her predecessor and Duncan talks about how she was the best person he even knew and the best Sorceress. Evil-Lyn says that she will be a greater Sorceress but Duncan is unmoved saying that so far all she has done is use her power to bully others, just as Skeletor bullies her.

This takes Evil-Lyn aback and Duncan tells her that nobody fears her, they pity her knowing how Skeletor demeans and pushes her around. Evil-Lyn says that she has power but Duncan says that in spite of that she is allowing Skeletor to dictate how she uses it. As Sorceress she is the one who decides how the power is channeled and that Skeletor should be her servant by rights. Evil-Lyn leaves, thinking on what Duncan has said.

Back at Point Dread, Adam and Marlena are catching up and Adam inquires on the tension he felt between the two before. Marlena admits that, after Adam's death, her marriage to Randor began to fall apart. Randor blamed her for not telling him the truth sooner and Marlena soon came to resent Randor for his blame. She even considered moving back to Earth and leaving Randor before Skeletor's reemergence. Adam blames himself for their relationship falling apart but Marlena assures him that it isn't his fault. Sometimes people simply fall apart especially after a tragedy.

Back at Castle Greyskull Evil-Lyn dispassionately listens to Skeletor ramble about how Adam was able to summon the power. After seeing her like this Skeletor shows her what he has been observing in the magic chamber; the entire universe. After noting how small and insignificant people truly are compared to the vastness of space Skeletor reveals that soon there will be a cosmic alignment wherein, for the first time in millennia, all of the planets of the universe will be aliened. Since Eternia is in the exact center of the universe, and Skeletor will be wielding the Sword of Power, he will gain untold cosmic power, more then enough to destroy Adam once and for all.

Evil-Lyn, after seeing how small she really is and believing that there is no rhyme or reason in the universe, incredulously asks if that's truly all Skeletor is going to do with his god like power; kill He-Man. When Skeletor confirms that it is Evil-Lyn tells him that he has more then enough power to simply kill Adam's family and make him wish for death. Skeletor mockingly calls her a "clever gutter rat" and dismisses her.

Evil-Lyn walks away and begins crying as she realises how, despite all of her powers, she is a slave to Skeletor's petty whims. Beast Man approaches her and Evil-Lyn reveals her past to him. When she was a girl she lived in the slumps and on her fifth birthday her starving parents tried to kill and eat her. Fearing for her life she ran into the sewers where she spend the next twenty years surviving by pick pocketing richer folks. One day her luck caught up to her and she was almost killed by some lackeys of someone she robbed when her life was saved by the unexpected arrival of Skeletor who offered her a place by his side.

Evil-Lyn admits that she hates Skeletor but he gave her a chance to make something of herself and taught her how to harness her magic. Beast Man warns her that eventually Skeletor will kill once he no longer sees a use for her. He encourages to flee while she still can and save herself. However with new resolve Evil-Lyn says she will save them all.

Back at Point Dread Teela is siting in a transport and is soon joined by Adam. The two talk with Adam telling her that his secret tore his parents marriage apart and he knows it drove a wedge between the two of them. Teela tells Adam that he understands that now that he only kept his secret to keep the people he loved save but his actions still ended up hurting them. Adam decides to reveal another secret he kept from her but Teela cuts him off as she already knows what it is; the Sorceress is her mother.

She wonders if, subconsciously she always knew the truth or if she only realised when they arrived at the Mysitc Mountains. Adam apologizes for not telling her as she could have had a relationship with her mother but Teela says that the Sorceress could have revealed the truth herself. Teela muses that no-one can truly know the complexities of the human heart, let alone that of a Sorceress.

The scene then transitions back to Evil-Lyn who approaches Skeletor once again. Skeletor believes that she has come to bicker with him once again but Lyn denies it. She tells him that since he's been back they've yet to indulge in their other "favourite past time" and tells him she wants to feel his new power. Though she clarifies that he might kill her if they were to do so in his current form.

Blinded by lust Skeletor relinquishes the power and the two start making out on the throne. Suddenly Evil-Lyn grabs the Sword of Power and holds it to Skeletor's throat. She calls him out on how, with all his god like powers, he is blinded by narrow vision and base instincts and he wouldn't know what to do with unlimited power. Skeletor tries to convince her to give him the Sword back but it is no use, Lyn decides that instead of choosing a champion she will make herself her own champion. Calling on the Power of Greyskull Evil-Lyn transforms into her own version of the Champion while Skeletor flees through a portal.

Evil-Lyn sends out a message to all of Eternia telling them that she has come to free them from their meaningless guest for purpose. She opens up a portal to Preternia and says how, to give their lives meaning, they strive for an eternal reward with their ancient heroes. She decides to free them from their need for spirituality and releases a blast that destroys Preternia. She tells the people to live their life's to the fullest now as all that remains is chaos.

The heroes gather and discuss what they can possible do now that Evil-Lyn controls all the power of Greyskull. Teela says that to combat a Sorceress they need a new one of their own and suggests using her powers to fight back. She says she needs time to master her abilities and Randor suggests that they gather an army from all over Eternia to by her the time she needs. Adam notes that they'll need all the help they can gather for the fight ahead. On cue the doors open and two guards bring in a chained up Skeletor. Skeletor sardonically asks the shocked heroes if they are going to invite him in.
