Klinger decides to defect after Colonel Potter and the staff make fun of the assorted tchotchkes Klinger received from home and put up in the clerk's office but changes his mind after Potter apologizes and allows him to put up one of the tchotchkes. Meanwhile, the highly decorated Chinese-American US Army Sergent Michael Yee (Clyde Kusatsu) arrives at camp and tries to commit suicide after being told he is being shipped home.

Attention all personnel! The following tropes put too much swoop on the T!:

  • Blatant Lies: When Potter finds the notepad that Klinger was forging his signature on, Klinger quickly improvises an explanation that Potter was writing the signatures himself while sleepwalking. Potter pretends to buy it, but just before he leaves Klinger's office he tells Klinger, "You put a little too much 'swoop' on the T."
  • Driven to Suicide: Yee fought in Europe in the Second World War. During the Korean War, Yee feels driven to attempt suicide by deliberately placing himself in harms way, and then by slashing his wrists when informed by Hawkeye that his latest injuries are enough to send Yee home. This is due to the deep seated guilt Yee feels in having to fight an Asian enemy - namely the Chinese - for the first time in his Army career.
