Martin's attempts at filming his own horror movie are interrupted when a giant ant emerges from the screen of the local drive-in which is showing an old sci-fi movie about giant insects. Martin and Diana soon discover a 500-year curse is bringing imaginary monsters to life, and since Java was playing the creature in Martin's movie he has been transformed into a real radioactive swamp zombie. To make matters worse, if the monsters are not all defeated by sunrise they will become indestructible, and Torrington Academy will never be rid of them
General Tropes:
- All Just a Dream: Diana convinces Jenni that her kidnapping by zombie was just her sleep walking. Jenni more than happily believes that before fainting again.
- Bear Hug: Java gives Diana and Martin one after being cured from being a zombie.
- Becoming the Costume: Exposed to the full moon turns Java into an actual Radioactive Swamp Zombie.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: The very first monster Diana and Martin face in the episode is a giant ant.
- Chekhov's Gun: Diana's spray-on cast invention comes into play at the climax.
- The Cuckoolander Was Right: Martin's knowledge of science fiction comes in very handy when the monsters attack.
- Curse Escape Clause: Since the curse says that the light of the sun will render the monsters permanent and indestructible, Martin binds a transformed Java in place with a complete covering of Diana's spray-on cast. This prevents sunlight from actually touching him at morning, and he emerges turned back to normal.
- Heroes Gone Fishing: Turns out M.O.M. likes to organize parties at her office in her free time.
- "King Kong" Climb: Java turned Radioactive Swamp Zombie kidnaps Jenni and climbs Torrington's clock tower this way.
- Lunacy: A centuries old curse makes it so that the light of the full moon renders any fictional monster it shines on becomes real. This not only brings monsters out of mediums like film and comic book, but also transforms anyone wearing a monster costume.
- Monster Mash: Due to the curse, several movie monsters attack Torrington, including a giant ant, a werewolf, a robot creature, a giant flytrap and Java-turned radioactive zombie.
- Sentient Sands: The Beach Creature.
- Shout-Out: The monsters are this from Them!, Doctor Who, Little Shop of Horrors, and The Horror of Party Beach.
- Weaksauce Weakness: Every monster has at least one weakness; the giant ant's is sound, the Beach Creature is water, the Man-Eating Plant is weed killer and so on.
- Work Hard, Play Hard: M.O.M. is incredibly diligent in her work as director of The Center, but this episode shows that in her free time she turns into the Life of the Party.
