In this episode of Mahabharata, the Kauravas’ plan and the Pandavas’ counter move towards completion.

  • Can't Hold His Liquor: Purochal and his family start gabbing a lot when drunk.
  • Crocodile Tears: Shed by Shakuni while informing Dhritharashtra of the Pandavas’ and Kunti’s deaths. He insists on doing this because he thinks that Duryodhan will be incapable of doing such a thing.
  • Death Faked for You: Kunti and Yudhistir agree to fake all Pandavas’ deaths to find out how deep Shakuni’s conspiracy goes and who all are involved. Vidhur knows and is in on this ploy.
  • Fast Tunnelling: Yudhistir overhears Purochal rambling while drunk and figures out that Shakuni plans to set fire to the house on a new moon night. He instructs the miner to finish the escape tunnel long before then.
  • He Knows Too Much: Shakuni planned to have Duryodhan’s bodyguards eliminate the architect Purochal. However Bhim beats him to it by burning the house down a day earlier as he escapes.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Purochal is burned alive when Bhim sets fire to the flammable house he built to kill the Pandavas.
  • Mangst: Bhishma, upon being informed of the Pandavas’ demise demands that no one disturb him while he grieves in private.
  • Manly Tears: Dhritharashtra weeps uncontrollably upon being informed that the Pandavas apparently burned to death.
  • Nightmare Sequence: Gandhari has a nightmare in which Shiva opens his third eye and starts doing his destruction dance. Then the fire god Agni appears and tells her he is sorry for burning down her dynasty.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Kunti states that she will never forgive Shakuni for this attempt on her and her sons lives.
  • Unwanted Assistance: The miner doesn’t want the Pandavas interrupting him to converse, offer help etc. He is after all on a tight schedule and none of these princes know anything about digging tunnels. He brusquely tells them to leave him alone.
