After another failed attempt to bring Nikki to justice, Mac and the team must find a whistleblower on a train and keep her safe from assassins sent by her boss Wexler to keep her quiet.
Tropes:
- Artistic License – Engineering: Pneumatic air brakes on trains cannot be sabotaged as they're failsafe: pumping air in releases the brakes, releasing the air applies them.
- Christmas Episode: In which Bozer wears a bad Christmas sweater. In L.A.
- Commonality Connection: Katerina offers Mac another perspective on Nikki, that her actions are not his responsibility any more than Wexler's are hers. He still intends to catch her, though.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: Wexler.
- Fake-Out Make-Out: Tried by Mac and Katerina when assassins close in. It works initially, but they get carried away, to the point that the assassins have actually gone past them and come back
- No Kill like Overkill: When Phoenix prevent them from killing Katerina, the assassins decide to crash the train, forcing Mac to figure out a way to save the passengers. He uses a flare, rust, and magnesium from armrests to separate the passenger cars from the head of the train.
