Recap / Lilo & Stitch: The Series S2 E26 "Link"

Go To

"Link" is the sixty-fifth and final episode of Lilo & Stitch: The Series to be broadcast. It was first released as a Bonus Episode included on the Leroy & Stitch DVD on June 27, 2006, before finally airing on TV on July 29, 2006.

An experiment causes Lilo and Mertle to get literally stuck together. They must work together to catch the experiment since others, including Nani and Stitch, are also getting stuck to each other.

Experiments who appeared or were mentioned in this episode:

  • Link (X-251): This episode's Monster of the Week; a yellow Grundo/rabbit-like experiment with red eyes who is designed to fire a glue-like substance at two incompatible individuals, binding them together so that their arguing causes massive chaos. Only mud can dissolve the substance. His name is short for "Linkenstein", a zombie president from a B-movie Lilo has seen before.
  • Char (X-412): Described by the experiment pod container as a "bagel burner".
  • Botulator (X-413): Described by the experiment pod container as a "food spoiler".
  • Crusty (X-414): Described by the experiment pod container as a "moldy bread spreader".
  • Patter (X-415): Described by the experiment pod container as a "single sock eater".
  • Reuben (X-625): First seen looking for experiments on the pod container to help him with sandwiches, then gets bound with Gantu by Link later in the episode.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Chained Heat: Link was made specifically to invoke this. Throughout the episode, he glues Lilo to Mertle, Stitch to Nani, Jumba to Pleakley, Gantu to Reuben, and various other people to whoever they are feuding with.
  • End of an Age: The release of this episode marks the end of the original Lilo continuity of the Lilo & Stitch franchise; after 2006, the franchise would change its focus to Stitch ending up on other places on Earth.
  • Meaningful Name: 251's name comes from the fact that he links people together. But In-Universe, after this is pointed out to her, Lilo denies 251's ability to be the reason why she named 251 "Link", instead claiming that she named Link for a B-movie character called Linkenstein, "the zombie president".
  • Series Fauxnale: Although this is the final episode of The Series and the very last Western animated Lilo & Stitch work to air, it still takes place before Leroy & Stitch, since Link appears in that film already activated.
  • Tempting Fate: Gantu expressing his desire to find some treasure so he can retire and quit being Hämsterviel's 'errand' boy.
    (His communicator rings)
Hämsterviel: Gantu! I have an errand for you.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Jumba the second he sees Link in the window.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Mud can dissolve Link's sticky substance; there's plenty of mud on Earth and it's easy to make mud, especially on an island—one of the world's wettest, in fact—where it's easy to get water to make mud.
  • What Kind of Lame Power Is Heart, Anyway?: The four 4-Series experiments that Reuben looks at on the container's computer screen have very specific and very pointless Poke the Poodle functions.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Stitch's fear of water flares up when he has to accompany Nani on a boat.
