A female escort is attacked in a sleazy hotel room by three American soldiers. however, one soldier refuses to talk, while another (Jack DiFalco) confesses to the crime, even though it is clear that he is lying. Further investigation finds the real rapist and necessitates the sacrifice of a huge secret one of the soldiers had been keeping for years from their superiors. Meanwhile, Rollins' unprofessional work on the case leads to her revealing a secret from her recent romantic life, having taken the case too personally.
Tropes
- Country Matters: Sandy/Sky refers to Rollins as a "bitch with a capital C" after the latter treats her like crap for being a sex worker.
- Humans Are Bastards: The victim's philosophy, as she tells Benson that "people are scum".
- It's Personal: Rollins verbally abuses the rape victim because her boyfriend cheated on her with "working girls with AMEX".
- Kick the Dog: This episode is perhaps the cruelest Rollins has even been on the show. She takes out her personal issues out on Sandy/Sky, even though the latter is a gang rape victim. It all culminates in Rollins throwing money at Sandy/Sky in a hurtful jab to her profession. However, when the latter gives a heartfelt speech of her own self-worth issues, Rollins has a My God, What Have I Done? moment.
- The Reveal: Jim Preston, one of the main three suspects in raping Sky, is really a transgender man.
