After a pregnant woman dies in a fall, the detectives take a look at her personal life and the myriad of suspects that wanted her dead.

- Addled Addict: Dr. Claire Snyder, whose addiction to the drug Midazolam is ruining her career and her life as well as the life of her children.
- All for Nothing: Jenny killed her stepmother to get her parents back together. It still wouldn't have worked because of the preexisting problems between them long before she came into the picture and how they still hated each other after the divorce.
- Big, Screwed-Up Family: Yes indeed. The victim was the much-younger second wife of a man who had a very acrimonious split from his first wife. Among the other troubles was the first wife had a prescription drug problem that was ruining her life and her career as a doctor, the children were clearly upset over the divorce to the point of the teenage daughter drugging her and pushing her to her death, and the new wife herself being suspected gold digger who got pregnant by an ex-boyfriend.
- Death by Falling Over: How Kate Snyder was killed.
- Gold Digger: Kate Snyder was suspected of being so to her rich banker husband Don. The episode does imply the aversion however; as Kate is now (seemingly) past her party animal days, and (seemingly) over and through with her x-boyfriend. Her tour guide friend reveals all this, along with the kicker that she was really looking forward to being a mother.
- Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Kate Hollis, before she became Kate Hollis Snyder. It seems to be behind her by the start of the episode though.
- Jerkass: Don Snyder is a terrible guy who abandoned his family for Kate and is still openly hostile to his former wife in front of their children.
- Remarried to the Mistress: Don remarried his much-younger mistress Kate after divorcing Claire.
- Tampering with Food and Drink: A drug called Medazolen was added to Kate's alcoholic beverage, making it simple to push her to her death.
- Who's Your Daddy?: Kate's unborn child was either from her husband or her ex-boyfriend.
