- A Day in the Limelight: As much as Old Dave can be considered a separate character from Dave as a whole, the episode serves as this for him. He stays in this form for far longer than usual and we get to see the dynamic between Benson and Old Dave.
- Abandoned Laboratory: The abandoned science burrow was once a building populated by scientists before being torn apart and covered in an odd mutated fungus substance…
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: The humans in capes walk by some dog-sized red ants.
- The Cassandra: Old Dave insists that there are ghosts in the old burrow, but Benson just dismisses him as paranoid. Dave is wrong about the cause, but there is something alive all around them.
- Defiant to the End: Their big amp destroyed. Outnumbered. Their enemies armed with swords and vicious flamingos and a homicidal Mandrill very very angry with them. The Umlaut Snäkes hiss at them and go to strike.
- Designer Baby: The hidden research note reveals that Kipo's mother was a geneticist who tested several animal mutagen with her own fertilized eggs, and the jaguar DNA was the one that took. Kipo is ecstatic to learn this, while Wolf and Benson... well, not so much.
- Sensory Overload: The Snakes are able to use loud music to attack other mutes because of their enhanced hearing. Scarlemagne is able to stop them when he notices his human slaves with their less sensitive eardrums aren't harmed by the noise and have them destroy the speakers.
- Squick: In-Universe example as Benson and Wolf's reaction when they discover Kipo's parents used their own daughter as a living scientific experiment makes it obvious they are a little freaked out.
- Wacky Cravings: In one of her journal entries Song decided to make kimchi and peanut butter while pregnant with Kipo.Lio: “Sounds horrific, but if that’s what you’re craving...”
- Wolves Always Howl at the Moon: At the beginning of the episode, the Mega Dogs randomly wake up to start howling at the moon.
