Dokko helps Olga twists the jam cans. It is very hot inside Olga's house, and he goes out outside. Olka pulls him aside, saving him from getting hit by an icicle. Dokko thinks about it, because if Olga hadn't dragged him away, the icicle would have fallen on his head and greatly changed his plans. He decides to conduct an experiment.
Dokko puts a sign in the middle of the path with the inscription "detour". He explains that he's going to see what happens is somebody turns off the path and how it will affect his fate. Barry is the first to approach the sign, but he is lost in his thoughts and does not notice the inscription. Wally is next. He reads it and turns off the path to the side. He makes his way through the snow, and is knocked down by Rosa on a sled, which made the two quarrel with each other. Dokko is pleased with the result of his experiment, as he managed to change the fate of his friends. Olga doesn't share his excitement, because because now Rosa and Wally will no longer want to talk to each other. She demands Dokko to apologize to them, but he offers his own solution to the problem. Olga promises to give him three jars of jam if he succeeds.
Later, Olga and Dokko meet near Rosa's house. Dokko explains his plan: He will lure Wally out of the house and trap him under a tree. Before that, he will lure Rosa out of the house, and when they suddenly collide nose to nose, he will pull the rope, and fragrant rose petals will fall on them. However, when he tries to demonstrate it, the rose petals do not fall. Dokko knocks on the tree, causing an icicle to fall on his head. He then tells Olga that if it were not for her experiences, he would not be here and the icicle would not have fallen on him. Olga objects, saying that if it weren't for his experiment, she wouldn't have had worry. They start quarelling, but then notice that Rosa and Wally have long forgiven each other and are sledding together. Looking at them, Dokko demands his jam jars. Olga is shocked, but calms down after Dokko pulls the rope, with fragrant rose petals falling on them.
Tropes:
- In Spite of a Nail: The whole point of Dokko's experiment is to see if he can change somebody's fate. It seems to work at first, as his experiment causes Wally to be hit by Rosa and quarrel with her. Then after Olga forces him to undo this, it turns out Rosa and Wally have forgiven each other without Dokko and Olga having to intervene, meaning that the experiment didn't change much at the end of the day.
