Recap / Kaeloo S 3 E 24 Lets Play Court Of Miracles

Go To

Stumpy needs money to buy a new comic book. When he hears Mr. Cat talking about the Cour des Miracles, he gets the idea to earn money by scamming people - namely, Kaeloo.

"Let's Play Court of Miracles" contains the following tropes:

  • "Begone" Bribe: Stumpy invokes this by playing music horribly and threatening to continue playing if Kaeloo doesn't give him some money. Kaeloo initially refuses, but eventually decides to give it to him.
  • Blatant Lies: Mr. Cat tells Quack Quack that he's not going to hurt him, and then proceeds to make him have a panic attack.
  • Evil Is Petty: Stumpy tells Mr. Cat that he earned four cents. Mr. Cat proceeds to traumatize Quack Quack and lie to Stumpy so that he can steal the four cents from him.
  • Flying Face: In Stumpy's made up story about his "terrible" life, Kaeloo is a giant disembodied head who speaks with a deep, scary voice.
  • Karma Houdini: Mr. Cat gets away with triggering Quack Quack's trauma and stealing Stumpy's money.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Stumpy has his money stolen by Mr. Cat and gets beaten up by Bad Kaeloo.
  • Noodle Incident: Mr. Cat really hates the Cour des Miracles, for some reason.
  • Obfuscating Disability: While trying various methods to trick people into giving him money, Stumpy tries faking being disabled. Since the show has a Minimalist Cast, everyone already knows each other, and Kaeloo tells right away that he's faking. She pays him anyway because it was such a good act it would have seemed believable to anyone else.
  • Split-Screen Phone Call: Happens between Kaeloo and Stumpy. When Kaeloo gets annoyed, she steps into the other side of the split, yells at Stumpy in person and then storms off.
  • Street Musician: Stumpy plays music while Kaeloo and Quack Quack are on the subway. As one would expect, he's an absolutely Dreadful Musician. Since Kaeloo already gave him money on three separate occasions, she initially refuses to pay him, but he threatens to keep playing if she doesn't, so she reluctantly gives him more money.
  • Take That!: During Mr. Cat's scam, he is dressed as Donald Trump.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Each time he tries a scam on Kaeloo, she immediately sees through the trick, but gives him money anyway and compliments his creativity in coming up with the scheme to be a supportive friend. In order to get more sympathy from others and therefore more money, Stumpy goes on TV and narrates a completely false story about his life which portrays Kaeloo as a selfish and bossy jerkass.
