Go To

After being suspended for disrupting with her radical actions, a young activist is sent to a boarding school specializing in rehabilitating girls with a "streak". She soon finds out the school’s dark secret to reforming their students.

Tropes:

  • Boarding School of Horrors: Where Veronica gets sent to. Miss Genevieve’s School for Difficult Girls takes girls who are rebellious, unladylike, and/or aloof with their parents, and have them Brainwashed into sweet and too cheerful Pollyannas with perfect hair, style and manners.
  • Disability Immunity: Thanks to a metal plate in her skull, Claire is capable of retaining her original personality after her original "haircut". At least until Miss Genevieve manages to remove it and re-apply the "haircut" offscreen.
  • Jade-Colored Glasses: Veronica wore these after coming home from summer camp. She Used to Be a Sweet Kid, but then found out all the heavy issues of the world, turning her into a cynical Soapbox Sadie. When she feels as if there’s no escaping her fate of being Brainwashed into a Stepford Smiler, she questions if it would really be a bad thing if it meant she could see the world through Rose Colored Glasses again like she did before.
  • The Power of Rock: The Green Day song "She's a Rebel" is played to break the students out of their brainwashed states.
  • Soapbox Sadie: Veronica. She gets suspended from public school because she raked up nine infractions within a single year with her radical acts of protest towards liberal views.
  • Technical Euphemism: "Haircut", for the process that brainwashes the girls into being obedient and compliant. While it does, in fact, change a girl's hairstyle, it does MUCH more, and doesn't even involve any cutting.
  • Took a Level in Cynic: Veronica was a Wide-Eyed Idealist before she went away to summer camp and learned about all the injustices of the world. She came back wearing Jade-Colored Glasses and stirring up riots in cafeterias, concerning her parents enough to send her to Miss Genevieve’s in the hopes of bringing her back to the happy daughter they once knew.
  • Unwillingly Girly Tomboy: Implied. When Veronica breaks Heather out of her trance, Heather is horrified to see herself in the mirror, taking particular grievance with her hair and pink slippers, and outright saying that she hates pink.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Veronica hugged her parents and watched movies with them, believing the world was a great place. Then she went away to summer camp and learned about the serious issues plaguing the world, causing her to wear Jade-Colored Glasses.
