LOVE-SICK SQUIRT GUN is a 1960 episode in the Trans Lux-Joe Oriolo Felix revival.
One night, the Professor sends Rock Bottom to rob a bank, with Felix there now as a banker. Rock goes to stick Felix up in the usual bank robbery routine. Felix reaches before the bank teller's window, where it turns out that some controls are under, which produce a powerful fake arm, that socks Rock, sending the hapless dog flying out the bank window and all the way back to the Professor's lab. Rock explains what happened to the Professor, who prepares his latest invention: a "Lovesick Squirt Piston", which squirts out water that can make someone ultra nice. So the Professor goes to the bank, where Felix reaches for the same "emergency boxing glove" contraption as before, just as the mad scientist takes out his "Love sick Squirt gun" to Felix, and squirts it at him, so that the cat actually visualizes the Professor as an angel (with first-person view of him as such, complete with wings, harp and even a halo), and Felix soon doles out money to the Professor, before said crook takes off back to his lab, before the potion wears off. Felix then goes to the lab, where Rock Bottom tells him Felix is coming. The mad doctor reassures the bulldog that their lion is waiting for Felix, who then enters, only to run afoul of the lion.
Part two continues, with the lion continuing only to realize that they're both felines, and a new friendship is started, and the lion tries to go after The Professor and Rock Bottom, only for the Professor to leash the lion and then get it after Felix. The lion starts swatting and punching the cat, who then stutters, "C-C-C-COUSINSS?" T He lions then starts swinging at Felix, but it turns out, it has all been for show, for the big wild cat punches Rock Bottom straight to jail! Then Felix sneaks the Professor's gun so the gag can be used on the Professor, who, once squirted becomes docile. Soon we cut to the previously unseen bank executives, still unaware, of what's been happening. They see the damage, the call the police, who arrive on time. Everyone then sees the Professor, now "tranquilised" by the gun potion, saying.."arrest me...I wanna please Felix!" The Professor relaxes, Felix laughs.
Tropes:
- Didn't Think This Through: In the midst of the final battle between Felix and the "backstabbing" lion (who'd befriended Felix, pretended to fight the cat but "accidentally'(?) loaded Rock with a punch), the Professor doesn't look sharp enough, allowing Felix to grab the pistol.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: With Felix having now grabbed the scientist's pistol, he manages to give the professor a good dose of his own love medicine.
