"Come, come now, everybody's guilty of something!"

How to Steal a Gold Mine? is a 1959 Felix the Cat cartoon and the 23rd episode of the Felix the Cat (Joe Oriolo) series.

We take up where the last one. ''Felix's Gold Mine" left off.

Professor and Rockbottom again want to steal the gold mine, and eventually dress, respectively, as sheriff and judge with makeshift court, as Rock takes Felix into the "court". Felix has stored his magic bag behind a rock by his mine's cliff. Professor tells Felix (above) "Everybody's guilty of SOMETIN'". they then also have put a DIY jail where they imprison Mr.Felix! But a helpful prairie dog bursts up (where Rock and Prof. already are climbing the mountain!) and looks at Felix, who asks for help, first shakes its head, but then pops right in to let Felix tunnel out with him! Felix and his new praire dog friend (who then disappears) form a "hump" on the desert, moving to the cliff, and Felix emerges to get the magic bag. He then turns it into a carjack big enough for him, while Prof. and Rock have accidentally roped a deadpan billygoat, who, looking tired but bemused, playing bouncy back and forth with the two crooks, who then get literally tied up on a branch, then fall into some bird's nest.

Felix then climbs to the cliff and laughs.

Tropes:

  • Literal-Minded: Rock Bottom thinks that the Professor really wants to fix Felix's wagon.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: The Professor's disguises as both the sheriff and the judge consist of a false moustache and a wig, respectively. That's it.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: The Professor briefly does this when telling Felix that everyone is guilty of something.
