Go To

The Holograms, along with Sean Harrison, are invited to appear on a talk show. When the Misfits find Kimber's diary and publish entries in Cool Trash Magazine, the Holograms' reputation is soured by the scandal, with the Misfits alleging Kimber is in love with Sean. Kimber must be strong and stand up to the scandal, but she's worried about being hurt and hurting her bandmates.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Continuity Nod: Raya only just joined the Holograms last episode, and she says a few times that the Rockstar life is still something she's getting used to. The Beach Interview and Roller Skate show are mentioned to be her first interview and big public event as a Hologram. This is also the reason why she didn't receive any diary pages; she hasn't been in the Holograms long enough for Kimber to need to vent about her.
  • Evil Costume Switch: On Kimber's request, Synergy gives Kimber a makeover that makes her look like a Misfit.
  • Expy Coexistence: Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, and other celebrities are mentioned by name. In other episodes, several of those were given lookalikes.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Synergy mentions that Kimber's father discussed her to her, which foreshadows a future episode reveal that Synergy is partially based on Jacqui Benton.
    • After obtaining Kimber's diary, Jetta tries to get Roxy to read it, only for her to casually persuade her to do so instead. In the following episode, "Roxy Rumbles", it's discovered that Roxy didn't read it because she can't read it.
  • Kick the Dog: Done repeatedly to Kimber in the episode. The paparazzi hounds her over the diary's contents, and the Misfits sing a new song teasing her misfortune called "I Love a Scandal".
  • Running Away to Cry: After getting embarrassed by both reporters and the Misfits, Kimber runs home to cry.
  • Secret Diary: The Misfits find Kimber's diary and leak it to the press, resulting in the titular scandal. Luckily, Kimber made no mention of Jem's secret in the diary.
  • Took a Level in Badass: What Kimber thinks she did as a part of her "Hard and Mean" makeover. Synergy is unimpressed, citing how her father wished for her to be strong instead of hard.
