A Deep, Dark Something Lies Between the Living and the Dead!

Manga Placement: Chapter 18

Summary

Crim and Meidri notice how quiet Ye Pubbe seems whenever Stunk's crew is out of town for quests.

Zel visits his old friend Count Call Girlula to deliver a few items as requested decades ago, with Stunk and Brooz doing the heavy lifting. Girlula notices that Zel changes party from the previous time, and he notes that this is the result from being with species with lower life spans.

The Count follows the Reviewers down to the undead brothel Necrowaif, as his harem works here to keep busy during the long years that he sleeps. Stunk has the cute zombie receptionist, Zel takes a JiangshiExplanation , Brooz picks a skeleton lady, and the Count calls out one of his vampire ladies to serve her master.

Meanwhile, Crim is seen stepping out of the Magical Lube Shop, utterly mortified that he ended up visiting such a place on his own volition.

Tropes specific to the segment

  • Attractive Zombie: The receptionist is surprisingly cute for a Flesh Golem consisting of two mutilated corpses held together with stitches and bolts.
  • Double Entendre: Zel speculates that if Crim were do it with an undead succu-girl, she might pass on for good; which prompts Stunk to remark, "she'd be gone for real?" In Japan, "go" can be an euphemism for "die", but it's also a common euphemism for "orgasm". While "go" can also mean "die" in English, the common English euphemism for orgasm sounds like the opposite, so Yen Press had to rework the wordplay slightly by having the imagined spirit heed the call of heaven, crying, "I'm comiiing!"
  • Frankenstein's Monster: The zombie girl goes this route, with body parts held together by stitches and sporting a bolt in her skull.
  • Literal Metaphor: Necrowaif's receptionist likes to "take her brains out" when it gets boring. This is represented by her popping her brain out of her skull as her body lays there drooling on the carpet and muttering.
  • Pixellation: The zombie receptionist's brains are censor blurred as she plugs them back into her body.
  • Squick: In-Universe. Necrowaif reeks of rotten meat, which puts off everyone but the Count.

The Darling Angel's Lotion Explosion!

Manga Placement: Chapter 19

Summary

Stunk, Zel and Brooz are amused when they find out that Crim finally went to do a review on his own, as are a pair of background succubi dining at Ye Pubbe; Meidri simply has a resigned expression of disappointment. They cajole Crim to show them the review he wrote for the Magical Lube Shop. Unsatisfied with his previous pick at Necrowaif, Brooz decides to pass Magical Lube in favor of his new favorite succu-girl, Ice the polar-bear beast girl and leaves.

The Uncouth, Unsanctioned Reviewer Rivals Are In Their Scene!

Crim also points out the presence of copycats, a fact that irks Stunk and Zel. Leafing through the copycat reviews, they discover some interesting new things, like that new succubus film starring Piltia and Elza, as well as the Grand Mage Demia's Magical City. Kanchal walks in right at that moment, having secured transport, and Crim is invited along.

Meidri comes back out from the kitchen to find that the Reviewers have led Crim astray once again. She has to serve the tables alone, much to her exasperation.
